it is a little hard to tell but i think my ammonia is at 0. idk if anyone else uses the red sea test kit but it looks like even at 0 the water turns green. do i want it to not see any color because the green i see is as close to 0 as i can tell.

I did a big one about 6 days a god because my ammonia was through the roof. I guess I need to do another normal water change

I'd wait until the nitrite drops then do a water change (just the water. Don't move the sand) to remove some of the nitrates

Okay so I ordered the DIY tank cover from BRS, and I got 5 hermits and 5 snails from the LFS today. The ammonia is staying at 0 but I'm going to stay at this for another week to make sure the bacteria is maturing the tank is ready for more inhabitants.

algae has taken over my tank at this point. Im going to do a water change tomorrow and i think this weekend ill add chaeto to the back and beef up my cleaner crew. It's tome to get this tank ready for some fun.

did an 8g water change this morning. when i came down to take a look at the tank the water is cloudy and EVERYTHING has a layer of algae on it. will test the water tonight after work

Well my water is still cloudy but nitrite nitrates and ammonia are all 0. I guess I just gotta wait for this bacteria to settle down and I'm good to go!

Thanks Scottshopinc, i couldnt imagine not having a door though. can you not put anything in the stand?

on another note, my tunze ATO and DIY cover came today! got it all set up and i couldnt be happier with both of them. I will post some pics tomorrow. ive been trying to hold off because bacteria is still clouding up my water!

Well water is almost clear. All levels are 0. Ready to get some living creatures in this thing!
