34g solana build.

Well, sold the 75g, just took up a little bit too much room. Picked up a 34g solana from Mike (Janes_MW). Decided to build a different stand for it. Sold the previous BRS rock and picked up 25lbs of Marco. Also picked up a lightly used mp10es. For lights I am simply going to use half of what I planned on using over my 75g (light will consist of 2 vero 10 90CRI 5k whites, 4 Luxeon 8up royal blues, 4 limes and 14 430nm hyper violets). LEDs will be added to a RapidLED premier heatsink enclosure. Pretty stoked about this little tank. I'm still deciding whether or not I'm going to add sand or not. We'll see. So, a few pics.

Okay so, I ordered this rock late late Thursday night, actually, early Friday morning (1am) and it was at my door on Saturday while at the FAOIS garage sale.


Went to home depot yesterday and picked up the wood and assembled it. The stand is going to remain open.


The power strip looks crooked but it's just the angle. I definitely like how it's tucked away.


That's it for now. Going to play with the rocks tonight and put a nice little scape together for it, stain the stand and get her filled.

Thanks man, yeah I'm definitely happy with the stand. It shouldn't be too much longer. The longest part is going to be staining the stand.

it's just 1" x 1" x 1/8th" aluminum square tubing welded together and painted.

Thanks everyone. Started prepping the stand for paint lastnight, I feel like everytime I get ready to do something I get hit with another sinus infection, ohwell. I also received the heatsink enclosure today from Rapid, I gotta say, it's a cool little fixture. I was going to just paint the stand and call it a day but I think I'm going to take my time on the prep so it doesn't look like a 4 year old did, although that's probably insulting to most 4 years as most of the things I've painted have come out looking far worse.

Of topic.... But, Flonase. 3 years without a sinus infection. Used to get them constantly this time of year.



I like the hanging method too. How sturdy are the arms? I wonder if that would work extended out 4.5 feet with quite a bit more weight.

Thanks for the heads up. Also, the weakest part of the hanging kit is definitely going to be where the bars get attached to the stand, the bars themselves are 1" 1/8" wall aluminum square, tig welded with welded corner gussets so they'll hold quite a bit.

Haven't been able to get much done to this thing due to the holidays but I did manage to get the stand a friend's house so I could do a little prepping on the stand. Still trying to figure out how I want to paint the stand.

I'm still not sure if I want to prep it as perfect as possible and go with a glossy black look or give it a distressed antique look. I have something like this in mind but, I'm not sure how it would look, just because the stand itself is pretty basic.

Actually, this is almost the exact look I am going for. I know it's a bit odd but I want something to stand out from the rest of our black furniture, and I think this will do the job.

Thanks man lol. It was a little weird spending all that time filling all the holes in with wood filler, only to hit this thing with a hammer to give it more imperfections.
