Hi,

Is it normal that every time when Osmolator is turned on it starts to add RO water even if the the water level is correct and doesn't require to add RO water?

Thanks

Typo, it's 3155 model

Yes when it powers on it will add water for a couple seconds... usually this does not equate to very much water though

I asked Mr Tunze for clarification of this feature as it is a common source of complaints, he explained it is their to get the pump primed and ready and verify the pump works on first connection, without it, you could not be sure everything is running and the pump may need a lot of the first top off run to prime up.

I still don't understand the logic for such behavior.

Tunze must add water till it's level reaches a defined value. What's wrong if the device doesn't do the start-up check? It still will be adding water later when it's needed up to the level.

Actually no, it has a timer, as a final safety, after 10 minutes it shuts down. The idea is that you will be at the controller when you plug it in, so you will be able to verify the pump runs and is primed before you leave it.

But what about a power outage that is my main concern as well as some testing that might cause turning the device off and on?

To achieve your goal it's enough to have a test button.

It adds 15 seconds worth of water, that is maximum 1/2 to 2 cups depending on the pump speed you set if the pump is already primed. It really should not be an issue, a test button adds cost and means a larger board may be needed and it is something else that can go wrong. I am sorry, but it works the way it works, I was only trying to explain the reasoning for why it works that way.

I read this and see your point. If it works in this way it would be great to have this at least documented in the User Guide to avoid confusing.

But honestly, if this solution causes the end user's concerns it might make sense to consider to change it.

I agree it is something we need to add a description about to the manual.

We do take suggestions, but this is one I already suggested to Mr Tunze and it was shot down, that is why I got the explanation myself. I have asked that they consider a pause or off switch that would allow people to work on the tank without triggering this, but again, this adds complexity, a failure point and may result in a bigger more expensive unit, so every change has its pros and cons.
