~360 In Wall Build

I can try to meet you up there... I left the company though for a few reasons and went back to my old job... less hours and almost $20,000 a year more... would have been financial suicide to stay. You can text or email me if you still have the info or PM me here... I still cannot PM due to getting busted when I worked at the store :bounce1:

Wspangler, thanks for asking. The tank is doing well. I've been busy helping out with the kids and didn't see much interest in the thread so I haven't been keeping up with the updates. For the last two months I have been working on dialing in my Apex programs, dosing, etc. and slowly adding livestock.

I currently have the following in the tank: 6 Bartlett's Anthias, 4 Firefish (2 Purple & 2 traditional), 1 Royal Gramma, 1 Algae Blenny, 1 Golden Head Sleeper Goby, 1 Melanurus Wrasse, 1 Engineer or Convict Goby. I figure I am a little over half of my potential stocking level. I have currently been looking everywhere for a One Spot Foxface to add as I have some bubble algae issues and I think these are great looking fish. Finally, I have two Gladiator Clowns in QT that I recently picked up at Aquatic Tech.

Parameters are fluctuating some, but I am getting them dialed in. Currently I am testing around 7.8 dkh for ALK and 370-400 for CA. I was getting slightly higher numbers but I did send some sample over to Aquarium Water Testing and got back the above results. They also said Silica was high and my SG was 1.028!!! I have checked the SG using multiple tests and consistently get 1.026 with a Refractometer and 1.26 on my Pinpoint Salinity monitor. Seems after further research that AWT results have shown errors in the past, so I am now trying to lower my SG to 1.024 via the Refractometer and this should be in the range needed. I also replaced my DI resin and added more GFO in case the Silica measurement is accurate. I do have some minor diatoms showing up, but despite a little more algae than I like all the corals are showing nice growth. I also have a clam and a RBTA that are doing fine so I have to assume my water parameters are decent enough. A couple of the Anthias developed pop eye, but they fully recovered in about a week with no intervention from me other than trying to make sure they were well fed.

This weekend I added an auto feeder and programmed my leak detectors for added piece of mind. I have also cleaned out the frag rack in preparation for the upcoming LEAR swap at the end of the month. I'll try to get some new pics up in the coming days. Thanks again for your interest.

I in have exactly same size tank i love it. You did a beautiful build on yours. What is your water change schedule on yours?

This is one of the few I am subscribed. I picked up a few smaller tanks from you before this tank was set up. I think you were creating space for this tank. If I recall right you had not decided on the exact size at this point.

The whole system is very nice. You can tell that a lot of though went into the build. I look forward to the Lear swap. I have several pieces reserved on reeftrader already.

Thanks for the update.

I am from Lorain too. Nice to see fellow Ohioans with reef tanks especially close to home. I live in FL now.

I try to do 20-30 gallons a week but I haven't really gotten to the point that I have a set schedule due to having the QT running. If I have several fish in QT I usually end up doing more some weeks as I have the Genesis set up so the old tank water from the DT can drain into the QT or down the sink. This makes it easy to keep the QT clean and ensure the water parameters are nearly identical when I go to transfer from the QT to the DT.

Well I was a bit bummed yesterday as I found one of the gladiator clowns in the QT tank passed yesterday. I'm really not sure what happened as I just recently did a 10 gallon water change and both of them have been eating well in QT for approx. 2.5 weeks and were the only 2 fish in the QT. This is the first fish I have lost in a while.

Did you go to the Lear swap?

Yeah, got some nice corals. I tried to take some pics yesterday but my picturnes were all washed out. I need to do some research so i can take better pics of the tank.

Great swap! I just hope they find a larger venue next year. I think they are a victim of their own success.

How about you?

Yea I went. I had a blast. I'm in the same boat with pictures. I was talking to some friends today about giving me a hands on tutorial.

I did hear that they will be looking for a larger venue next year.

9 Month Update

I read on article about "white balance" today so I thought I would see if I could take better pictures. I figured I would post a few.

That's a great start. The colours are very realistic.

Now, if we could just work on focus. And also, never tilt your camera, as the thickness of the pane will distort everything. Try to keep the lens parallel to the viewing pane.
