375-500G Projected Build - need some input

Getting the necessary hardware for the stand. I know some prefer steel or aluminum but I disagree that one is needed to withstand the weight. If properly designed, wood works just fine plus never have to worry about rust (guess you could powder coat) or level issues. Can easily control level issues with a wood stand which are almost impossible to do once a steel or aluminum stand is welded together.

As they say, to each it's own

Semi finished stand. Flooring is plywood with pvc covering to make a pan like setup in case water spills, drips, etc.

Need to flip it and then cut the trim pvc pieces, then glue and silicone.

Base will then be done.

Tank has shipped.
1k lbs - don't think I'll be swinging a delivery with a couple of guys :)

So, having 5 moving guys handle.

Custom sump from Precision Marine. A big thank you to Mike for being so responsive and patient.

I highly recommend PM for those looking.

Mike is a great guy and knows what he's doing.

Can't wait to see the final product.

I actually like the idea of the overflow being external... keeps your DT's water volume 100% true and viewable space! and often a cleaner look. i'm tagging along for this development!!

How would you make it an external overflows? Have a wide ledge put into the side to form the weir? I see that approach on plywood builds. I'm looking at the same basic design with a side weir. I'm planning on internal since wholes are much easier to drill in glass than cuts.

Tank came in.
Boy did these movers underestimate what it was going to take or what 1040lbs feels like...they finally got it up there; however, after they left I realized its facing the wrong way!! What a jackass I am!! While helping them out and figure out how to get it up on the stand, etc, I failed to noticed it was facing the wrong way.

Now I have to call them back to see about turning it around, man am I ****ed.

This sounds like something I would do. I am interested to see how everything turns out and will be subbed!

Haven't decided yet.
Will definitely be led to minimize heat.
Since I'm doing fowlr lighting is not as important as if I were to do corals and such.

1000 pounds is a lot for 5 guys, not sure what your dimensions are but space between bodies coupled with that much weight is a challenge.. my 240 glass took 6 just to lift it off of a pallet and move over 2 feet onto the stand.... might I suggest renting a genie lift!! you and your friends will greatly appreciate it
