3ft BB ULNS Tank

Thanks for sharing another fantastic tank, Scotty!

Two questions though:

- The rockwork, is it live rock or what?

- Lanthanum Chloride, how did you dose this? Directly in the aquarium or in a filtersock?

Cheers!

It help sharpen your ID skills:lol:. But you can find some bargains if you know what your looking for:)

Thank you Haimat :)

Yes my rockwork is Liverock and when I do dose Lanthanum Chloride I dose it straight in the weir which then runs into my filter sock.

Thanks again Scotty :)

Wow mate, your new tank looks superb!

[I cant say the same about Biggles's tank...because we dont even know what it looks like...] [He is posting everywhere cept his own thread...]

Sorry if I've missed it, but what micron size filter sock are you using? Everything I've read says to use 10micron or smaller to catch the LC precipitate.

Got two other important questions for you:
1. Does LC work at PO4 levels lower than 0.05ppm?
2. Does LC cause the tanks glass to become marked/etched with faint white residue? I heard it does cause this for Acrylic tanks.

Many thanks.

[Apparently Biggles has a nerdy wuss of a Flame Angel...its all talk...no show...]

Hi sahin buddy

Poor biggles had an issue with his tank not so long ago so haven't seen much of his tank :(

I'm running 150 micron filter socks mate I've found them to be pretty good for catching the Lanth because like you asked yes it does leave a residue on the water line of the DT but I haven't been finding this as an issue with these socks.

From memory when researching Lanthanum it begins to struggle to remove po4 when levels reach under .02ppm but to be honest I never found this to be completely true. I managed to get po4 down to 0.00 without a WC so from what I found I think it's possible :)

I've heard about biggles wussy flame angel  apparently
He recently put a hit out on all his Anthias :lolspin:

Your tank is looking great as I've been watching your rebuild, keep up the awesome work and Good to hear from you mate hope all is well

Hey mate, how are things going?

Since adding more fish Rory I haven't really seen any improvement In colour as I've only managed to add a little more Po4 and not No3. I've been feeding twice a day and I've easily double the amount I was feeding before so I'm really starting to think I need to add even more fish!

I can not believe I had not seen this before .... incredible tank!

Thank you very much yano :)

How high do you hang the light fixture?

The light fixture is 1' off the water level as the size of the light covers the whole top of the tank :)

Gee you're thinking of adding even more fish!!. What are the PO4/NO3 levels?

Yes. I'm curious as well. And I forget, are you using a carbon source?
With the p going up, I'm wondering if you may be nitrate limited..

Po4 has risen to .04ppm and No3 is still at 0.0 so yes I'm thinking along the same lines as you Matt with the no3 limited. Po4 hasn't gone out if control or anything it's just risen a little which I'm actually happy with as that was part of the plan when I added more fish :)

I achieve zero po4 and 0.01 nitrates dosing pridibio lol

Unfortunately we don't get these products here in Oz we are very limited :( lol

No problem..
Boy, I wish I had your nutrient problems!

Considering I have not done a WC for near on 3 weeks just due to the fact of having next to no nutrient and trying to dirty the tank a little. I'm actually a little disappointed as I thought I was starting to raise the nutrient levels last time I tested

So far I'm up to page 4 of the thread you linked as I'm reading it thoroughly (between the bantering on the thread) lol so far the dosing of AAs is sounding like it maybe a good idea :)

But for I best head off and resume reading in the morning :)

Thanks again Matt

How is the tank going Scotty, been a while so i hope things are going well mate :)

Hi biggles, this tank actually went through a bit of a bad patch but at the moment is starting to show some really good signs. I started zeovit on the tank about 2 months ago reason being that the tank was low on nutrient anyways so I thought why not! It's enabled me to feed heavier and has actually helped stabilise nutrient levels but...... The whole bedroom tank is starting to get on my nerves so I had 2 choices which were, A- shut it down or B- move it out into the front entrance hallway. So yes you guessed right the tank is eventually being moved but there's a twist, this tank will no longer exist as I'm actually upgrading to a custom made 1100x600x500 12mm rimless that will run an 8x39w ATI Powermodule and I'll be Using the Fauna Marin ZEOLIGHT system. I've really been enjoying the learning process with the current tank so I thought I would give myself some extra water volume if I'm going to shift it :D
