Sorry Fishy I didn't see this mate
I've been having an issue with lack of nutient in this tank as I think it's been running a little too clean and my colours have paled a bit, So my plan of attack has been that I've been dosing Zeovit Phol's Xtra Special to try and darken the corals up a bit. The other thing I'm doing is that I've also ordered another fish for the tank, possibly even 2 if I decide that it needs it which I think it may. I was prepared for this as I knew it was a major possibility when I decided to only run with the one fish but I've put my plan into action and we will see how it all goes

No he's not mate :lol: I've ordered a hybrid a centropyge angel but it won't be here for a couple of weeks yet

When the ice skating penguins are off duty I scrub the bottom by hand every couple of weeks :lol: this stops anything building up to majorly

I see what you mean about bb being ulns my po4 has been 0 even after feeding my anthias 3xday..and the colors are maintained. .I am not even dosing start 3 ..

Yes mate it's a struggle to keep any nutrient in the system, I'm feeding my regal morning and night and still can't keep nutrient up. This is why I'll be adding 1-2 more fish just so I can start feeding a bit more and also not changing my filter socks so reguarly and letting them get a little dirty. I had just recently taken my filter socks out all together and I think it had a negative effect so I've put them back in.

What type of negative effects did you notice when you took the filet socks out?

Because they were getting fairly dirty they must have been keeping some nutrient in the system so when they were taken out I've noticed my colours have really started to pale. I may be clutching at straws I know but it just seems a coincidence that it started happening around the same time I removed them

Make sure you get the dwarf skater variety. I've heard that kings and macaroni penguins aren't well suited to the tropical water temperatures:lol:

just wondering, are you testing your n and p, or just going bu coral colour?
you said that you use lanthanum chloride, is that because you have a persistent p problem?
i guess I'm wondering, in general, what your methodology has been for tracking nutrients..
