Last night, all 5 blue green chromis, happy, swimming. This morning there is ONE. We have all peaceful fish. No anemone, 1 decorator crab, 2 peppermint shrimp and 1 coral banded shrimp. I find it near impossible that something ate FOUR fish but I haven't seen them all morning. They are not hiders, they swim endlessly which is why I bought them.

Any thoughts?

Checked the floor (we have a goby so thats standard procedure :p ) We've looked everywhere we CAN but there are always places we CAN'T see. The remaining one is acting perfectly normal. So is the Mandarin, Firefish and the Cardinal.

Chromis aint jumpers, are they?

Schools of Chromis are well known to eventually become a school of one. Usually it takes time though. If the Coral Banded Shrimp can get his claws on a fish, you're going to be missing a fish. Just one possibility.

I had a CBS once. He ate all my chromis's... not at the same time though. One per night.

At night, I noticed my chromis would move down into the coral for protection.. and then snap, CBS food.

Crab, shrimp are opportunistic, so maybe you fed them all?

Have you looked in your overflow? Fish can sometimes jump into that and through that into the sump. It does seem strange to lose 4 in a single night.

Just noticed that our 2 peppermint shrimp are missing as well. Seriously, this is a NON aggressive tank, what in the world is kidnapping our stock? I'm a very sad little reefer right now.

I had a hitchhiker Mantis eat all of my small fish a few years ago - but even he didn't get four in one night.

As said before chromis slowly disappearing is not surprising at all but 4 in one night is certainly odd, peppermints disappearing not surprising with a CBS around, they dont tolerate other shrimp well wouldnt keep a CBS with any others except pistols or preferably a mantis ;)
