Has anyone done this DIY upgrade? I was wondering because I have an extra 2x24w ballast and was thinking about rounding up the rest of the parts to add the extra lighting.

This is what I was thinking I will need so far:
-heatshield that is predrilled for 4x24w
- two endcaps
-two bulb clips
-wires from endcaps to ballast (does anyone know where to get the
stock nc cords for the ballast?)

Anything else? Btw i was going to add two more moonlights possibly too.

what type of lighting are we talkin about here? t5's or pc's? In a 12g, 4x24w t5 HO would be a LOT...probably too much imo. If it was pc's (not sure if they make 24w pc's...) then it might be fine.

yeah 24/28 watt pc's are 12.5 inches long...and sadly what i am using over my 20 gallon...

i am looking into getting t5 end caps for mine just for actinic after the MH is up next week..

i would say it all depends on what you plan on keeping in the tank...

12 gallons with 90-100 watts sounds like loads of light to me to grow anything in there..

Some of the coral Ive kept for about a year now are frogspawn, blue/red mushrooms, zoas, torch, sun coral, gsp. I just got some new more light demanding coral ..digitata, pagoda, and a blue tort.

The lights are pc's and Im pretty sure theyre 24w bulbs but Im sure ballast could probably run 28w ...and yea they are the 12.5" four straight pin pc bulbs. (the ones that come standard in a 12g nanocube dx).

Ive looked around some and was wondering if anyone had any good links or knew of any posts with good pics/ tutorial for the diy light upgrade. Or just hearing from anyone who has done this kind of upgrade on their nanocube. And if it causes any xtra problems. I figured some raise in heat/ temps. But I planned on upgrading or adding new/ additional fans.

Just wondering still if anyone has any good diy links on something like this. I am going to search the net this weekend a little but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreiciated.
