40 breeder build thread. It's centered around my clownfish!

Then it went back inside after a day or so?

Here is a pic of it closed on it.

Then clyde playing again...spreads out pretty good, doesn't it?! I am having second thoughts about putting any coral on this rock work, even on the top.

new pics! These were taken yesterday around 430 so they had been in the tank for about 5 hours. Sorry for the color. My lights are 14k and I don't know how to get the blue off.

I got a pressie too! Yay! Thanks, dude :)
Copps Sunset Monti! It is orange, but the blue makes it look brown...don't know how to fix that on my point n shoot?

I also got a new used Vortech and have cleaned it and put it in operation as of an hour ago :) Going to send my other vortech in for inspection since it's noisy.

thanks :) I have a two part solution to use. I'm going to look into that tomorrow on my day off.

This behavior is interesting. Sorry about the glare. luckily the glare is the worst at the top and not where Clyde is!

This is great, are you having any changes in the level of the sump? For the life of me I can't get my crappy rio to keep the return level stable and I'm wondering if it's just me or if it's a common thing...

@girlygears: I have an eheim ajdustable return pump, not a rio. What do you mean level of the sump? I have evaporation that gets topped off with RO/DI water.

@crobattt:What do you mean what happened to Bonnie? They are both there, but Clyde is the one cleaning.

The return level keeps dropping on me, it's pretty drastic. Guess I will have to get an ATO, and see if that helps. It's scary coming home and your pump is sucking air! :eek2:

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I used 1/4" baffles.

I added a JBJ ato with a 10g reservoir behind the tank/stand. Got tired of topping off so much especially since I decided to go back to college! Too much to do now with working, 3 kids and a household to keep up + being a full time college student!

Bonnie and Clyde still tend to an area, but aren't laying yet. They should be roughly 2 years old, so we'll see. I've had them a year this month :)

However, my cleaner shrimp are breeding. The female is full of eggs. Good food for the tank. That's why I bought 2 cleaners. They weren't paired or anything. Just 2 small cleaners and they will change how they need to so breeding can occur.

My anemone on the lower front and center moved over to my coral pile on the left. I ended up having to take that rock out and break it to get it off. It went to a different home and now my cool rock structure isn't quite the same :( I still have that one anemone in the crevice on the right. It doesn't show any signs of moving so far.

I'm sure the other one moved cause I moved my Vortech's.

Sorry to hear you had to break up your rocks on the left- I loved your aquascaping. I tend to like more rock than you had but I thought your setup looked great.

Any updated pics? I miss following this thread.

Yea, I was bummed about having to break them as well. This is what I have right now. Until I change it anyway...lol

and a shot of Bonnie and Clyde

005-12.jpg

I haven't updated much, because there is not a whole lot to up date. Mostly waiting for Bonnie and Clyde to start laying eggs. They aren't yet, but my cleaner shrimp are..lol

Looking good- thanks for the update. Hopefully Bonnie and Clyde will start cooperating for you soon.

Thanks guys!!

I love this skimmer. It pulls a lot of stinky crap out! I generally clean it at least once a week. Did you see this pic I had? It's just from cycling the tank! See all that crud! Plus this rock was bleached and soaked in muriatic acid before it was fully cycled so that burned away most of the dead stuff.

Here's some muriatic acid for ya

I did add a strawberry crab to the sump. Just to the part where it drains from the tank. Also added a couple small pieces of lr for him down there.

Online or your lfs (local fish store). Your fish store will probably need to order one for you because I doubt they normally stock them.
