Looking great Calvin! I have had a few probs with the aptasia myself but have been too cheap to get any shrimp in there yet so I have been resolving each issue by syphoning the aptasia out. All in a day's work I spose :). Did commission a emerald crab to nip the bubble algae before it goes everywhere. Keep up the pics!

Thanks djmod45! I've had good luck with peppermints in the past (if you keep them hungry) and I've got an Emerald Crab next on my list. :)

i just added saturated kalk water to my topoff bucket. it still clogged it. in fact, it is clogged right now.
how does a kalk reactor work? what components are needed for one? is it the same as a calcium reactor that breaks down aragonite with co2?

A kalk reactor works just like the bucket except that it's air tight so you don't get the bicarbonate. The fresh water (RO/DI) is in a bucket and it feeds the kalk reactor, it mixes and allows the kalk that doesn't get disolved to settle to the bottom. The saturated lime water is at the top and that is what gets used for top off. I hope that's clear if not, just PM me and I'll try to clarify.

Wow, beautiful tank, love seeing the progress from the start. I can't wait to see it all full of coral.

What do you plan on keeping in it?

Bob

Thanks Bob! I'm planning an SPS forest with a clam or two. As for fish, I'm still tossing different ideas around, but it will definately have at least 1 goby, at least 1 blenny, at least 1 wrasse and the rest is a mystery. :)

Eric,

Glad the parameters are keeping in check for you. Can't wait to see the tank in a few months when you have it stocked and running great. I just ordered my OM Super Squirt yesterday, so it should be here next week. I'm working on ideas for the ATO and then we'll be ready to go.

Yep! I think I'll go steal some of my old clean up crew back from my dad. :) Spike? More like a mound. :) I got a trace of each and they were gone almost as fast as the arrived.

Don't know if you recall my flat worm problem in my 65 (most of the same rock) but when I cooked the rock, I also did a flatworm exit treatment. Man that stuff works great! One treatment and the rock is clear!

Side Note: I wouldn't recommend treating rock in a display tank in this fashion. Flat worms release some nasty stuff when they die, I could even small it when I did the treatment. Didn't mind since I was cooking the rock, but just a warning so no one mis-reads this.

Holy Crap! Lights just turned on, and I can only find one aptasia left! It's a big one so I didn't expect them to eat it; I just nuked it so I'll let them clean it up. I figured it would take a week... Nope just over night! Love them peppermints!

Alrighty... I've talked with Jim at Seascape and he's going to order me a Randals, and Yellow Watchman I've decided to hold off on the Pistols for now, I'd like to see how these guys do before getting more. I also ordered 100 Nasarius snails off Ebay last night, about 50 more than my Dad and I need, so if anyone needs some Nasarius snails and are local, come and get some, first come first serve... :)

Thanks Matt and Croman! Russ, just let me know how many you need unless you need all that I'll have left (about 40+)... Should be in sometime next week.

Here's the Emerald Pair that I got today... These guys are like lawn mowers!!!

Haha, I just bought an emerald crab last weekend. Our tanks really are very similar. By the way, I put up a few new pictures just for you ;)

Followed this thread from the clean plumbing thread. If I'm looking at this right your CL return is from the PVC setup running along the bottom, if thats correct I don't think you'd be getting a free enough return flow which could be causing your pump to cavitate therefore causing your noise prob. Have you tried just opening up the pvc return so it has no restriction (holes in PVC)? Just a suggestion would hate to see you go trhough getting new pump to find same problem.
