Adrianto - your Sohal Tang is seriously the most gorgeous fish I've ever seen. Magnificent!

Hi drummereef ....

Thanks ...
:)

Every evening I always spent at least 1 hour to watch my Sohal swimming around in my reef tank.

Even my younger son sometimes jealous with the fish .... :D
He ask "How could I spent more time with my fish rather than playing XBOX360 with him" ....

lol... He has to talk to my wife... She is close to discover how to grow scales... or at least she says probably I would pay a bit more attention to her if she had some.

Recommended Equipments :
1. H&S Sulfur Denitrator, do not need feed pump. Works very efficient. Reduce Nitrate below 1 ppm within one month.
2. Dolphine Aqua Sea Pump. Very strong and super quite.

Soon I will try H&S Ca Reactor and let see the performance compare to Korallin.

Regards,

Adrianto

Man I haven't seen updates in a long time. It looks incredible!

There have been some really great reviews of the H&S denitrator in the H&S forum. I plan on getting one for a FOWLR. I also have the H&S 200CR-F300. I bought it because of the new lid, it twists just an inch or two just like the H&S/Deltec skimmers. Very convenient. If you run it insump, you don't need a feed pump.

pH Problem

pH Problem

I've tuned my Calcium Reactor, last week I got water parameter as follows :

Calcium : 420 - 430
Alkalinity : 11 - 13 dKH

My pH drop significantly , now is only 8.05 - 8.25

Do you have any suggestion how to increase my pH back to 8.2-8.4 again ?

Will this low pH (despite of high kH) make calcification problems ?

FYI, my calcium reactor tuned so the outflow pH = 6.60, effluent rate = 2.5 liter / hour while the CO2 rate at 50 bubble / minute.

Adrianto,

Don´t you also have a kalk reactor (stirrer) ? One way to fix that problem is to operate them simultaneously (not the only reason) in order to prevent ph drop

Yes, I also use kalkreactor (strirrer), operated with water level detector at night. So it will replace evaporated water in the evening till morning.

But humidity in Indonesia is very high everyday, so the evaporation rate of my tank is only 3 liter / day.
This small evaporation could not help much to increase my pH.

Any other suggestion ?

Adrianto,

Probably another way is to set up a fan on top of your tank or sump directed to the water surface to increase water evaporation.

I think it would help, don't you think?

OK, I will try to install 2 units fan and will let you know the result.

Hai Pak Adrianto,
Let me introduce my self, i'm have a fish store in my house. maybe you can visit me and let me show my product.
Based on all your setup, let me advice you :
1. you coral to close to each other.
2. if you need close loop pump, you must use centrifugal pump.
3. if you ph and calcium too low, you must slow your C2R or switch off every other day, and continue use K2R with fan in your sump( use fan for night only).
I'm open to consultant you problem. Make appoinment first.

Hello Pak Reefword,

Thanks for your advise. I've tuned my Ca Reactor again couple days back, and the pH is now around 8.15 - 8.30

Since alkalinity at 11 dKH and Calcium at 420 ppm, I think I don't have any more problem with water chemistry anymore.

So far SPS grow quite fast and healthy.

yup! i got same problem with evaporation. mine is worse, 1 day not even 1 L. then i install a 4 " fan on top of sump. now is helping, but still not much evaporation.
i suggest use 4 x 4" fan flow to the water display. this is also helping to cooling the surface water from lighting heat.

Pak Johan,

I think "fan" is the best solution.
The water parameter in my tank is quite OK, now just need to sit and relax.

Pak Adrianto, if you don't like the sulfur denitrator or other stuff, and you want to sell it. Please let me know, because my customer probably want it. thank's
You can contact me in 0812-9064144 ( Fandy Sutanto).

Hallo Pak Johan, the other we can do to raised the evaporation is with the wet skimmer, like i did that.

Wet skimming will reduce the saltwater too, so it's not evaporation.

If you do too much wet skimming and replaced by fresh water (kalkwasser) then your SG will be reduced.

I think that's not the correct way to increase evaporation.

Fan is the correct way to increase evaporation rate.
