400 post met ocellaris

I have lost more of those than the previous hatch, not sure why. Maybe around 390 left. The next group is at 24 days, looks to be about the same number, maybe a little less. Then there is a group just 10 days behind them, again similar in size. Finally there is a new hatch on their second day today. I'd say pretty close to 2000 in all including the older hatch and about 120 I have almost ready for sale. Then I have maybe 400 tomato's as well, plus 2 more nests to pull this week and the female oc is looking fat, it's getting crowded down there.

I would say you are having some success there, David!

I was just revisiting some threads on feeding these guys for the best color. Are you still feeding cyclopeeze heavily? Did you try Otohime? I like many things about Otohime, but I don't like the color it is giving me.

I use the first one when I want to impress a costumer a few weeks before shipping. As sole food 3 times a day.

The other one you put it in the food, I have not use it, they should be able to guide you, basically you mix it with the oto

You can pay for Nature Rose (or whatever they call it), pay even more for the crap that Ocean Rider sells (vibrance I think), or just get pure astaxanthin from Jehmco for about 1/10th the price :D

I just feed frozen & freeze dried CE daily as a regular part of the diet, color is exceptional. Yes I do use the oto but cautiously, I don't like the fact that it sinks so quickly, waaaaay too much waste. Remember my "baskets" have screen bottoms.

Anyone using Zeigler? Does it sink as well?

Joe L uses Ziegler with additives, and dear Edgar did for a while.

Just did a price check. Naturose at Brine Shrimp Direct is $10 for 2.5 oz.
Astaxanthin at Jehmco is $5 for 1 oz. BSD wins.

Sorry, didn't mean to point the "wrong!" finger. Just wanted to inform, in case anyone was buying.

I should thank you for pointing out the Jehmco site. I did not know about them before. They have some interesting products!

Actually I was thinking about that while doing fishroom chores and it occured to me that I would never in a million years think to check the price on an ounce or two of something, the shipping would be more than the product  I do remember deciding Jehmco was the best deal. Any chance I'm right on realistic breeder quantities? :( Maybe not, just trying to defend myself here ;)

WOW! what is the largest grow out tank you have?. Are you using otohime? If so, are there any difference in growth with the otohime than from other products?

no need to defend.

Again, I appologize if my pricing things offended. It is my nature and training as a scientist to question and investigate. I had no intention of proving anyone wrong, or making you feel defensive. Just on the lookout for the facts.
