400 post met ocellaris

For everyone but damer :)

For everyone but damer :)

A crappy 369 this time (after I killed two in transfer). These are 32 days old, a little later than I have been pulling them but I have a little congestion problem :) They are at the far right of the other two hatches.

Great to hear some success stories on this board too! Glad its going well for you david.

rotifers/ bbs/ Otohime A/ cyclops-eeze

Can i just ask, is there any particular reason you havent moved them onto Othomie B1 if they are taking BBS? Or is there something obvious i am missing here???

Cheers
Keep it up
Mark

Yes but only because I bought the assortment so I have it. I use up to C2 and plan to grind the larger stuff up into smaller particles. I think if/ when I buy more I'll probably just get A and B2.

OK for now I'm not even counting, I only count them when I move them and I have no place to move them to. I have a solid 1100 from the first 3 hatches, 2 more similar post met groups, a group in met now, a group of larvae and a nest due in two days. They all average 350-400. An easy 2000. Also 400 tomato's and a new nest for them too. I should have two of the new tanks going tomorrow, i will xfr the tomato's first to see how it goes.

Mark, B1 sinks too fast for a group of tiny larvae at random all over the tank, most of it hits the floor where they won't eat it. Once I get them used to knowing where the food is (floating ring) and they all ball up under it in a frenzy then I start B1, not a grain gets past them :)

whats the floating ring ?

It all depends, they don't all grow at the same rate. Some reach 1" by 14 weeks and get sold, others take up to a month longer and some are just plain runts. I'm hoping that with more experience and improved husbandry I'll be able to get them to grow out in a more consistent size range. I should sort them by size at maybe two months but I'm just not there yet.

Wow that long I didn't realize. I assume thats why you guys have so many setups, so that you can get several patches at a time going and have a semi constant output.

That is the idea :D IN THEORY I should get to a point where I have a regular supply of fish ready to go on a monthly basis. Cross fingers please
