I currently have a 150 gallon display (72x18x24) tank with 3x250 watt HQI. the bulbs are approx 12 inches from the surface of the water and the sand bed is approximatly 24 inches from the surface of the water. so in theory the sand bed is 26 inches from the bulb.. IS this adequate or do I need to bump it to 400 watts? Granted I could simply move any SPS corals to the surface of the water. But I would generally prefer not to have to "fret" about positioning.
