40g SPS

Looking nice!
Thanks!

Pretty cool! Is that a SSC frag encrusted on a frag rack?
What Ian said haha. It's a Red Planet I got from him. It's doing really well.

Looking good. I like the recovery of the piece from the zeo burn. Makes me feel good about some of my pieces.
Ya, I may have tried to rush the zeovit stuff a little bit which was a big mistake. I have since turned down the reactor and have been feeding more and adding more oyster feast to keep the nutrients up.

it's actually a red planet ;)
Sure is man. It is doing great in my tank so far. Lots of PE and the color is getting better and better.

Looks great
Thanks a lot!

Great looking tank very clean really good colours. Looks like a solid example of what you can do with LED.
Thanks a lot! I am still having some minor issues adjusting the zeovit, but most corals are starting to show good colors. I attribute a lot of the colors I get to my radion. It is a great fixture. I honestly feel the colors have only gotten better since transferring from my 250w MH to the radion.

Stunning tank on oh so many levels:cube, LEDs, rockscape, awesome coral and photographs

Thanks watch guy! A couple of frags from your corals are in those pics :D

I got my new ceramic frag rack attached to my overflow using a magnet. This thing looks great! I ordered it from Reef Odyssey, which is run by a local in Santa Barbara. Ian is pretty awesome!

That's the coolest frag rock/ledge thingy i've ever seen, i might see something similar for sale in Aus 5 years from now lol.......... Colors are looking great mate, really pleased to hear you're seeing a good result with the LED switch rather than a bad experience, did you do anything that maybe others are missing which might explain the negative stories i see bouncing around.

Thanks man. I am sure you could figure out a way to DIY the frag rack. They are hand made so I am sure you could figure it out.

Since this tank was set up (9 months) it has only been running with the Radion. When I first got the Radion a couple years ago I was using a DE 250w MH 14k Phoenix bulb. I can honestly say the transition was flawless and the 14k setting on the Radion looks just like the 14k Phoenix to me. My corals at the time did really well with the transition and I have never looked back. Not sure what I did that someone else didn't do. I think it is all about acclimation to the light; starting out with a low percentage and moving up seems to be key.

awesome love the size of the tank and the coral look happy , my next tank will be like yours and zeovit ..again coral look spot on keep up the good work and keep us posted with lots of pics .

When I got this a few weeks ago it was brown. Now it is coloring up to a nice purple and encrusting nicely

A better pic of the new SPS shelf

This piece was given to me brown. It is turning green, but I suspect it will keep turning. Showing some growth too

RR Grape Juice is encrusting a little, but now much PE and upward growth so far. I'm hoping it will show some better PE once it is more settled in and used to my system.

50 is definitely high for that amount of zeolite. I have 2.6 liters and have about 220 gph of flow.

Ya, it was hard going for the first 3 months but the corals are coming around and starting to show growth and good color again. I think in another couple months things should be looking really good.

Can I ask you a question about phosphate? I am currently at around .04ppm P04 and I am trying to reduce it to around .02ppm or lower. I do an 9% water change every week and am currently dosing .2ml zeostart daily (.1ml in AM and PM). Would I want to up my zeostart to .3ml daily or is there something else I can do to help this? I am trying to get a handle on how I can use zeovit to further reduce phosphate without increasing reactor flow.

I use RO/DI with 0.0TDS, feed a little as possible with rinsed frozen foods.

you need to be careful with raising zeostart dosage. it can actually cause nutrients to rise and cause brown slime. you can try it for a few weeks and see what happens. i was dosing 2ml per day and it was too much, i had to back off to 1ml. i was getting nasty slime patches and nitrate was rising.

imo i would lower your doses of cv, zeofood and xtra. maybe cut them in 1/2 and watch corals and phos levels.

ive talked to many zeoheads with great tanks. most of them seem to like phosphate at .03- .06 for best coloration.

Here is my current dosing schedule that I have been using for the last 3 weeks. I have suspended all supps except for zeostart3, zeobak, and sponge power pretty much. I will be adding biomate and b-balance to this list when I receive them in the mail.

350ml Zeolite media
ZEObak- 2 drop x3 weekly
ZEOstart3- .2ml daily (.1ml in AM and .1ml in PM right into reactor)
ZEOfood7- 1 drop x2 weekly (suspended currently)
Sponge Power- 2 drop x3 weekly
AAHC-2 drop x2 weekly (suspended currently)
Coral Vitalizer-2 drops x2 weekly (at night)
Phol's Xtra- 2ml x1 weekly (suspended currently)
Coral Booster- 2ml x1 weekly mixed with FWS (suspended currently)
FlatwormStop-2ml x1 weekly mixed with CB
K-Balance- 1ml dose as needed
2ml Coral Snow with 1 drop Zeobak x1 weekly (or after water change)

you could cut zb back to 2x per week. you can mix 2ml cs with 2 drops zb and dose that twice a week. i also dose bm and zeozym once per week. it seems to help keep the sand cleaner.

Thanks for the advice. I will it out. I should get my biomate, along with some b-balance, tomorrow. I am interested to see what that will do to my nutrients after a couple of weeks of dosing.
