Looking good Matt
Thanks. Things are coming back around. I had some tissue necrosis on some acro branches from stinging, but no mass die offs due to tank params, though the params are a little off when I got back. I have things dialed back in now. I should see things returning to normal in the next month I hope.
Not really a lot of room to add anything anymore, but I want to get another acro or two. I actually have had to move a lot of stuff around because of the growth. My hawkins has been moved twice because of the red planet's growth, so not I moved it to it's own on on the other side of the tank. The red planet is getting huge. I'll take some pics in the next week or so before my wedding to show the rearrangement of the corals.
I set up a webcam to check on my tank while I am not at home. I will be in London, Paris, and Dublin in a couple weeks and I wanted to be able to check in on the tank just to make sure it isn't leaking all over the floor or anything.
I am in the process of figuring out the best way to add a couple T5HO bulbs to this tank as well. The radion is giving me great colors and growth but I am tired of the shading that comes with the LEDs. With my 24x24x16 tank I think that x2 coral + bulbs will be good. There is really only a 24''x17'' area that needs to be lit due to the overflow that sticks out from the back of the tank.
Thanks! I am looking to add some more frags in a month or so. I'm starting to get a really nice collection though.Wow stunning tank. Absolutely gorgeous. Love your collection and that's a ton of growth from everything. Keep it up.
Me too!!! I hope it is sooner than later.Looks good.. Can't wait to see it with some T5s as well.
Thanks, Jim!Love the tank.......................Jim
Oh, I will. I have a tank sitter staying at my place so it should be just fine while I am gone!Your tank looks very happy Matt enjoy your trip![]()
I almost bought a 6x24 ATI fixture over the weekend just because I hate the shadowing that much. I decided to just stick to figuring out what I want to do about adding some T5 supplements as I would miss the shimmer too much. I may end up getting an ATI fixture used as a backup just in case I ever need it though.I understand what you're going thru with the LEDs. I love the light that my Radions threw but I finally had to go old school and return to T5 lighting due to the shadowing.
It looks like a couple of LED manufactures are getting a clue and addressing the problem by experimenting with LEDs by removing the tight optics or moving away from the puck design. If the shadowing problem is solved I will jump back in a heartbeat.
EDIT: Love the tank
Thanks man. I think it will help as well. Just a couple coral+ bulbs to help with the shadows should work really well. The radion will still be the main light source."It looks like a couple of LED manufactures are getting a clue and addressing the problem by experimenting with LEDs by removing the tight optics or moving away from the puck design. Yes, the flat heat sinks that the LEDs are mounted on point the light straight down. If they mount lights on a curved surface, it may solve some of that issue. Or manufacture them with a reflector.
I do like the coloration of the corals in this tank with LED lighting. The T5's should help out with the shadowing..................Jim
