410 gal in wall build SW Florida

Shoot me a message if you have time to swing by and check it out.

I will try to post so more pics of the tank room later today.

Thanks! I'll see how my schedule holds out.

BTW, love the fish room layout. That's a very similar layout to the plans for my new build.

i notice you have the Genesis water change system. How do you like it? Has it been reliable? Would you buy that particular system again if you were building another reef system or would you pick another water change system?

The Genesis system has worked flawlessly so far. I change out 5 gallons a day and have never had any problems with it. I would buy it again if I was looking for a water change system. It is a little expensive but it is very convenient.

Have you changed the light schedule/intensity from what was shown a few pages back?

If so, do you mind posting your new light schedule?

Thanks again for allowing me and my family to visit your tank this evening. It sure makes it more real and impressive when we could see it in person. They all said "now that's the way we want our tank to look." Thanks again.

It was great to meet you and your family. We enjoyed the visit. Stop by anytime you are in the area.

I did make several changes to it. Here is my current schedule.

Thanks for that. I have a gen3 radion on my 55gallon tank. I haven't put any coral in yet. I am going to start putting coral in next week (I am out of town this week). The tank has been running for almost 2 months now. I haven't determined how to schedule my lights yet so this helps out a bunch.

Are you feeling alot better about your light schedule now? I notice that you are running your tank with a high "blue" tint. Do you think that is better than a "whiter" tint?

Also, my model light has a UV light. Do you think I should run the same percentage UV as Royal Blue?

Thanks, Ryan.

Looks like you're running Gen 3 Radions, right?

I'm running one over my 60g cube. Having lots of trouble with bleaching, although running at a max of no more than 55%. Even the acros are bleaching. All other parameters have already been scrutinized except my light settings. Maybe I could learn a thing or two about how to tweak my settings without hurting my acros further if I could get some of your tank dimensions:

How deep is the water over the tallest part of your reef? And over the sand bed?

Gen 3 have UV leds. His schedule doesn't show a UV percentage. I would assume he has Gen 2's. Could be wrong though......

How far above the tank do you have your lights mounted? Have you utilized the acclimation mode? I don't want to derail the thread, shoot me a pm.

In reference to the Radions, I have 8 Gen 1's over my tank. My tank is 28" deep and from the top of the tank to the sand bed is about 25-26". I have my light on a movable rack so I do not use the acclimation mode, I just move the lights higher and then lower them a little every day for about a week until they are back to about 11" above the top of the tank. That is where I usually keep them.

Keep in mind that the top of my tank is braced so I have a 1/2" sheet of glass with four openings on top. I have experimented with different intensity on the lights, anywhere from 45% to 85% and found that it isn't so much about the intensity but which colors you run at those intensities that makes the difference. I do run the blues higher than the whites because I like the color it gives me and they don't seem to burn the corals. I also seem to be getting better color at my current settings. Also, if you notice, I don't run them at a high intensity for very long.

To be honest I still tweak them now and then and I may continue to do so until I get the colors in the corals that I think look best. As the tank matures and the corals start to really grow out thats when I will get a better understanding of how they are going to color up.

For those of you with small tanks I would run them at a much lower intensity than you think they should be at. I was told by one of the techs at EchoTech that he ran his at like 35% over his tank. He just had one Radion.

Truly epic build!! I read the whole thread and I'm itching for more! I'm loving it, this is what I want to do in my dream house!
