410 gal in wall build SW Florida

Fantastic! The display is great. What I like most are the guts if the system. The planning and build photos are cool. Thanks for sharing!

Do you notice of phosphate leaching from your base rock and did you get your sand from reefrocks as well?

I just got a 90 gallon aquarium and I already have 50 lbs of base rock that looks very similar to what you have which is taken from either Naples or Ocala. I never can remember which one. I am torn on whether I should go with 40-50 more lbs of base rock or seed it with some live rock.

Your tank and home are absolutely gorgeous! Definitely an inspiration for a distant future project.

I did get some of the sand (about 100 lbs) from Reefrocks, the rest is live sand. I have not noticed any leaching of phosphate. I test every couple of days for a variety of things and my phosphate levels have remained around 0,03.

Steve, how deep is your sandbed? I have gone from a 3" thick when I set my reef up around 10 years ago to a bare bottom around 5 years ago. I'm making some changes to my system and I plan to go with a 1" thick for a more natural appearance. Have you ever run up to World Wide Corals in Orlando to look at their stock? Really nice store and people if you have not.

The sandbed is about 4" deep but it is has been getting blown around due to all the flow in the tank. I have one spot along the front glass where the sand has been totally blown out. I really like having a sandbed and did not want a bare bottom tank. My only regret is that I didn't use a bigger sand so it didn't get blown around as much. I have been thinking about adding some more sand but I'm not sure I want the headache of putting it in the tank. We'll see....

I have not been to WWC yet but do plan on making the trip in a few months once I start to add corals to the tank.

Hey change the orientation or angle of what ever is blowing it.

Pull the sand back into that hole and let it keep on moving it will settle.

Took 4 days but the tank is finally full of water.

I got my water storage bins installed and plumbed. Also got all of my Vortec Pumps and controllers installed. Doesn't look like a lot of work but it took me all day.

Added some live sand and a piece of live rock to get the cycle started. We'll see how long it takes. If anyone has any suggestions about the cycle let me know.

I've tried. Not going to work due to having the MP40's along the back wall of the tank. I may try throwing some rubble there to try and help out.

The aquascaping looks great! It will look even better when the rocks purple up. I like that you didn't place the focal point in the center. This gives the tank a natural look. I currently have a 300 g display tank with mostly tangs. IMO they keep my reef crystal clean. I noticed that you will be placing angle fish in your tank, are you concerned that they will destroy your SPS and inverts? I have noticed a lot of tanks on RC doing the same. I would love to add a regal to my tank but can't find any literature to support this. Great job can't wait to see it when its stocked with coral!!
