Another option to consider would be to lay a layer of heavier sand over the top of the finer sand. The finer sand is championed by those who are promoting an active benthic layer, especially meiofauna. The smaller grains are easier on their wee bods. The heavier grains are mostly for aquarists' sanity.

This is the sand that i recommend. Caribsea Special Grade Reef Sand. In my years in the hobby i have found that this has the best grain size for high flow tanks while still giving the "sand" look and not the crushed coral look.

what camera lens are you using on both the close ups and the larger tank shots? What are the camera settings? I am having a bear of a time getting good shots on my tanks...

also...I MAY be driving by Parish around 1 30 ish on Sat would you happen to be around?????? Love to see the set up.

Thank you, I will look into this. I would prefer to cover the sand I have as opposed to taking it all out.
