That is completely ridiculous!! I have not spoken up about this matter beforehand, but for this guy to say that the stand was put together with duct tape is absolutely ridiculous! I have been to Vince's house and I can say that his setup was very well put together and I was totally impressed.

I requested a quote from a tank manufacturer and he emailed Sean wanting to know what happened to my tank. This is Sean's reply to his email.

Rich,

How do you offer to help? This whole problem with vince is just ridiculous. The stand that tank was sitting on might as well have been held together with duct tape. We tried to help vince out as much as possible, but we obviously wouldnt warranty a tank sitting on a stand without any support under it and now hes just made a hobby out of trying to slam us. Ive also gotten about 5 differnet stories from him about what happened, so im done with him. Its ok the **** storm will soon pass and people will move on.

Legally we have solid ground we stand on, and it helps me sleep at night knowing I did what was right and eithical. Unfortnatley, some people simpy want hand outs and there will be no hand outs from us.

If you build a new tank for him, make sure you install it with your own stand as his garage is very very unlevel.

I am inviting everyone in the forum to my house to see if my stand was put together with duct tape.

This is completely ridiculous, this tank manufacturer needs to realize he has shot himself in the foot many times throughout this whole ordeal. His correspondence that you have shared with us are very unprofessional.

I am truly sorry for you loss, your tank was absolutely amazing.

If you are still looking to get rid of some equipment and or livestock int the coming month. I am located in northern Virginia and would be willing to make the drive.

LOL, that's just hilarious. That stand is solid as a rock and VERY well supported. I'm not sure what "different" stories he's talking about either. The tank fell apart, that's the story.

I read a thread yesterday with someone with an AGA tank where a seal started leaking, and the topic of using/not using their stand came into the thread.

This comment got me thinking of your issue:

"Wouldn't that be a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act? Assuming you can prove that the aquarium was put on a level, flat surface - I don't think that they can legally deny your warranty for not using their stand."

This Warranty Act may be worth looking into. The title of this thread had the word "all-glass" in it, a Search will find the thread for you.

I built the stand and met with shaun the day he came to Vince's.He told me that the stand was "Very well Built" which I already new as I used double 2x6's front and back and 2x6 joyces 16 inch on center,4x4 legs in the rear and doubled 2x4(12 inch on center) on the wall side,3/4 ply on top all primed and painted to keep out moisture. The concrete floor is sloped to the door but the legs where cut after the table was in place and leveled to compensate. Shaun only pointed to a small gap, which was later found to be in the acrylic panel, after the tank was removed.Ive been quite ,but if he is able to sleep at night ,as he said,"I want some"

My reason for responding is for us hobbyist!! This is not just a case of a poor job,or not standing by your product. Look at the pics posted of the tank,I would not have that in the house with my daughter. We tend to trust that someone in business is conscientious and well intentioned, but after this I would advise taking every precaution.Check references, look at other tanks built, anything to prevent losing something that money can't replace.

Rebuilt by amateurs who have no idea what they're doing, so we're not in any worse shape than the previous build :)

Yes, the tank is alive again!

It's nice to see it up again. Was the livestock split between that and the 150? How long was it tested beforehand?

Let's see pictures of that amateur work!

The livestock was split between a 125, a 150 and a 60. A bit cramped in all cases.

LOL, all the work is now under sand or behind trim.

5 months in and the "rebuilt" tank is doing fine. In a few months, drunk armatures with no acrylic experience will have built a better tank then the "professional"

:D

Just wanted to note that this rebuilt tank has now been running for 9 months. 2 months longer than the original "professional" build. Tank is going strong, and SP Aquatics is, well, nowhere to be found :D
