The crew was doing their large-crew ballet today. The concrete guys were in pouring the new porch, the fish room :), and the new basement. Pictures of the basement rooms to come later as they are still over there working. At the same time, the permanent crew finished putting plywood on the ceiling in the new bedroom and getting ready to drywall in there. They also finished raising walls on the rear mudroom today.

They started working on downstairs indoor framing, including finishing around the steel beams. During the process, the cabinet guy realized that one of the steel posts was in the wrong place by about 4", so the welders were back out grinding and re-welding the post. (Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered but the builder didn't ask me.)

I made up a completely lame, bare-bones website with a list of all of the links to the photo sites. Hopefully that'll be easier than making someone scroll back through the whole build thread in case they want to look at an old photo. Of course, that assumes that someone would WANT to view an old photo (Hmm....).

There are no bad threads, only bad questions. :) Thanks! There should be a tank in less than four weeks!

And we have a fishroom!

Looking good! I don't think I've posted yet, just been "lurking" but I haven't missed a picture yet.

Okay, I'm a little slow, did your kids do the drawing on the floor where the tank goes?

Me too! Your house is looking great, your crew seems to be doing a good job from what I can see from the pics.

I just got back from a meeting with the job supervisor. He wants me to work up an idea about what my electricity needs in the basement will be so he can size the backup generator. I asked him how close the measurements in the basement are to the plans so I can start drawing things up. His quote: "Well, we're pretty sloppy down there because it's just an unfinished basement. So figure it'll be within an inch or so." :eek1: Within an inch on the _sloppy_ part of the house?

It's really nice that he's a perfectionist so I don't have to be. :)

Nice build!!!!

Bet you a buck that you are using the automatic task to build your web page from a mac?

Did i guess right?

:)

Nope, not at all. I'm using the export as a web page feature in iPhoto, on a Mac. Big difference. Huge.

Cool! The tank's already making me money! Woohoo!

:)

Edit: Oops! I forgot to say, "Thanks!"

BTW, I'd like that dollar in Loonies, please. You guys are doing really well against the USD right now. :) What a fantastic name for a currency!

Well, I was trying to says that your web pages looked like a mac generated :P

Our dollard is doing is not a great thing at all, I am in printing industry our economy is made around a weak dollar not made for a strong one like it is now, printers are closing left and right around here, and even me is considering closing shop!!

I dont understand, you are using an automated tast on the mac! How is it I lost?

I'm sorry to hear of your industry woes. It was much the same here a few years ago when the publishing companies started sending books to India for typesetting. I lost lots and lots of work then. Most of it has eventually come back as the publishers start to realize that price isn't the only selling point. Quality of product is something to consider, too. Hang in there and good luck!

Ah, I apologize then. I thought by "automated task" you meant some sort of Mac program that I hadn't heard of. I guess it's my dollar that has to hit the road. :)

Well, it's been a while. Sorry. I had my computer fail in a way that I couldn't figure out what was going wrong and it took my network with it. So, new computer, new network hardware. I apologize to anyone who tried to view any of the photos while the system was down.

The geothermal guys are about half done with laying out the air conditioning ducts and it looks like the plumber is just about done with the heating pipe. The geo units are supposed to be here Monday. I think they might drill the geo holes this week, although we had a lot of snow this past week that slowed down the outside work a bit. Fortunately, they managed to get the tarpaper on the house before the last storm.

The fish room is getting framed-up in an attempt to isolate the moisture in there away from the rest of the house. The geo guy really wants to find a way to use that moisture (houses here average about 10% humidity, so it's not the worst idea), but I think I've talked him into just venting it outside.

The electricians are supposed to start this week, hanging boxes and then pulling wire.

Also, I think our builder's finally figured out that it'll be cheaper and solve lots of problems (like where to run the downstairs AC feeds, for one) if we take down the brick wall on the east side of the house and re-frame it. I think he's only planning on it taking a couple of days. So, that'll probably happen this week as well.

Thanks!

A blizzard???? It was 80 degrees yesterday!!!!

New update photos. The air handlers are in, they are starting the electrical, the plumbing continues, and they poured the last of the concrete inside (mudrooms at front and back). From the last I heard, the tank should be coming in a week or so, same as the windows. :)
