what an amazing thread - just been through all 33 pages - tired eyes to say the least!

Il admit i nearly lost confidence in the start - as it took a while for your stand/glass to arrive.

Amazing so far and i love the aquascaping with the cement around the strainers

Im tagging along for the rest of the project - best of luck with it

Cheers, Mike

Ah, thanks Mike! I'd nearly forgotten about all of those tribulations. OK, well I'm lying, but it sounded good. :)

I picked up a couple of new guys yesterday, a nice pair of A. akindynos:

They are probably destined for a breeding tank in the basement as the lovely bride thinks they are the ugliest thing swimming. :( They are currently living in the 10 gal. sump of a 20 gal. system where I've been growing out a single Banggai juvenile.

Ugly? Those are some awsome clownfish.

And it is about time on the saltwater i never thought i would see the day. LOL :) congrats on the saltwater.

House really looks amazing.

She's just not a big fan of the Clarkii complex. ***Shrug*** The photos don't do those pelvic fins justice. They're _huge_ and very bright.

Thanks! The rock guy is supposed to be back out this weekend to whip those into shape.

So, no new photos yet, but a quick update. I spent some time today filling up the rest of the basement tanks with filtered water. Today, I filled:

2 x water storage tanks = 350 gals.
5 x 90 gals. = 450 gals.
2 x 120 gals. = 240 gals.
Half of the 180 gals. sump = 90 gals.

Total = 1,130 gals. of filtered water today, with no wasted water.

I love the Kold Ster-il unit!

I haven't salted them yet because I'm trying to work out some weird flow issues through these tanks. Probably tomorrow....

Wow...that's a TON of water...well, 9429.85 lbs or 4.715 tons to be exact... ;)

Not including the storage tanks, what do you anticipate your overall system volume is going to be after you add rocks, sand, etc.?

Can't wait for more pics...hint hint ;)

Hey y'all!

Alan-- http://www.poly-bio-marine.com/

My tap water is honestly pretty darn good--40-55 TDS when I was using RO/DI--so that helps, but these units also don't waste any water and they are _fast._

Jason--I'm expecting 1,400-1,500 gals., plus various and sundries (storage tanks, hoping to try to raise babies, etc.).

Thanks, falesdk!

Andy it's looking great and those fish look very nice, I hope they breed well with the coloring of them.

Thank you very much! Yeah, I hope they do well. They seem to be off to a pretty good start. Maybe I can get them to a new home soon. Speaking of, I'm up to 1.015 and the salt's still dissolving. :)

Sorry I haven't done more with photos and whatnot. I usually tend to such things late at night and I've just been exhausted by 10:00pm lately.

I bet you're exhausted! Do you have a date set to have everything finished? I hope you're not having a superbowl party! :)

Superbowl? They're having a Superbowl this year? :)

The only sport I follow is hockey, actually, but the Avs are blowing this year. They only have a good win when I decide I'm sick of them and don't watch.

Here are some pictures of the fishroom.

My deep sand bed tank is not deep sand enough yet. All of the tanks are now salt water, though I'm still adjusting the salinity....

The storage tanks are both filled with fresh, filtered water right now, which is a good thing because the nipple broke off the water filter--spraying down the entire room--and I haven't fixed it yet.

Kalkwasser stirrer and calcium reactor.

The auto-topoff is plumbed to the freshwater reservoir by way of the kalkwasser doser.

The tank that's been running a while has a bunch of sponge filters running so I can have some filtration in the other 90s while they are QT tanks.

The biological processes are going in the 90. That's the bacteria trying to break down the shrimp.

Thanks!

Oh, the filter mess was nothing compared to some of my RO/DI fiascos. I've certainly come down to the basement an inch deep in water on more than one occasion. I put the floor drains down there for a reason.

Actually, that's one of the reasons I like the Kold Ster-il: I can hear it when it's running. Plus, it runs fast enough that I don't get involved in something else and forget to turn the water off.
