wow amayzing is all i can manage to think now that my head is spinning with all of these ideas to start something similar. are you planning on breeding for local shops, or just for poops?? anyways again, amayzing!!!!!

Ah, cool! We need all the people we can get breeding fish.

Regarding doing it for a business, well, I don't know. Breeding fish is a tough job and things change when you start doing something for money vs. for a hobby. Besides, I have to raise some first. :)

The cool thing about the Comes (seahorses) is that people are still just getting going on captive breeding these in the states. Most, likely including mine, are still net-pen raised with all the disease that goes with that. And the procedure for raising the kids is still something of a mystery. I'm told that 10% survival is currently considered a really good run with them. In fact, the captive seahorse breeders that work with them are still just trying to build up stock of captive bred animals in order to get a base population of disease-free broodstock. So, it's really gratifying to feel like I might be able to help in some way on that.

But, still need to get going on those sixlines.... :)

There is a guy at the Seattle Aquarium that is well known for keeping seahorses, breeding etc. Maybe look him up?

Cool. Thanks! I'm hooked in with the Comes group at Seahorse.org, too. They even have some sort of pathologist that works with them on trying to figure out if disease is the issue.

Thanks, y'all. 'T would be easy enough to do. The coral is not glued down to anything. Move it over there at the end of the fourth day and see what happens. :)

Well, fair enough. :)

Here you go. It's still lacking in the coral department. After losing several acros to my last low-pH thing, I'm still trying to make sure that things are stable before bringing in any more frags. Corals other than acros were fine and a couple of the acro colonies showed no problems. **Shrug** The algae is pretty close to gone with large patches of concrete in places. Coralline has started putting in appearances in places.

I had a big screw-up the other day. Thought I'd turned off the top-up hose and moved on to feeding the seahorses. Apparently not. I guess I pumped about 80-90 gals. of freshwater into the system. Doh. Fortunately, that was only enough to move me from 1.025 to 1.023. No big. :)

And here's seahorse kid on day 8.

Well some of it went over the top of the sump and onto the fishroom floor, but still. Yeah, that makes me feel better. I've been two days so far trying to evaporate it back to normal.

Andy
That's the benefit of having such a large water column. :D
