44 Gallon DIY All-in-one

It's 1.5" thick. The only reason I used that is b/c it was free! If I were to buy it, I would have only gotten 1/2" or 3/4", but since it was free, it's for me

Thanks for the compliments guys! I still have a lot of work to do, but I have Friday off (and I'm NOT going shopping), so I'll have a lot of time to get things done!!

Well, I had a VERY productive weekend. Like I said before, the wife was gone for the weekend shopping, so I was able to get things done! Here's some pictures of what all I got completed this weekend.

Figured out the Aquascape. Tell me what you guys think!

Then, I got to trimming out the stand. Thankfully, my buddy let me borrow a brad nailer. W/O this, I would still be hammering away

And finally, I got the first coat of paint onto the stand:

Well, that's it for the pictures from the weekend. Let me know what you guys think!!!

While I have an update, I have to say that no progress was made last night on the canopy or the stand. The wife had me running errands all night after dinner, and by the time I got home, I just felt like sitting on the couch and having a cup of coffee! But anyways, I gave the idea to my mom, my mother-in-law, and my wife to get together and get me the Aquacontroller 3. Now, I thought to myself, this will never fly b/c of how expensive it is... but, to my surprise... I'M ORDERING IT NEXT MONDAY!!! I'm soo happy right now, and my wife got tired of me telling her last night everything that I would be able to do with it

hold on 30mini...can you tell us how you "really" feel!!!.... ;)
congrats on the AC3..!!! (who said there's no such thing as Santa???)

Yes, I am a little excited to say the least. But anyways, I'll try and get some more done tonight, provided the wife doesn't have me running more errands again. Basically, I'm ready to paint and wire up the inside, cut the doors, trim up the outside, cover up any mistakes with wood putty, then sand and paint the outside. So, there's some work left, but nothing I can't get done in a weekend!

Next up will be the program for the AC3, and the DIY Kalk reactor. WHOOT!

BTW, i forgot to mention that I totally dig the aquascape...good job of keeping the sides clear for easy cleaning... and keeping the front "cove" open should work out nicely for lower level corals and such...did you epoxy the rocks together?...if so, what did you use?...

Thanks! No, I haven't epoxied them together yet. I will once I get the tank where it's going to be, and I don't have to move it again. I was planning on using silicone to hold them together, but they are pretty stable as is w/o any kind of help.

better stay in her good graces & do her errands before tank work.....at least until you have the controller in hand

Yea, I have been staying in her good graces lately... I'll be staying in them for a long time now that I have what I have wanted for years!

Don't worry, keep treating them nice, and maybe if you play your cards right, you can get them both to get you a GC's to the same place and use those to get your RK2!

So, on to the hood! I did a lot of work over the past week and a half. Yesterday, I completed the hood with the trimming, and I know that i have some work to do to complete it and fix the doors. But, that's been done (kind of), I'll just have to check when I get home. On to pictures:

hey 30mini....nice work on the stand and hood dude...!!!
I know you must be dyin' to 'fill r up"...!!!:D
question about the hood...it looks like ur hood is a 'fixed' style with a couple of hinged flip-ups on the ends...is that ur only access into the tank???....looks kinda tight...

Yes, it is a "fixed" style with the "flip-ups" your taking about being removeable rather than flip-up. If I need to do any work in the tank, those two should give me the room. They about 6"x9" when off, which is more than enough for me to reach anywhere in the tank I need to. If I need to do anything behind the tank, I can slide the whole hood forward about 6-8" to get back there and do whatever it is I need to do. The whole thing weighs about 15lbs at most with everything in it.
