~450G Display (~1000G system) documentary starting

I love the rockwork setup. I hope it works the way you've planned it.

Woodwork? Bah. It's overrated. I think the only reason you did that is because you couldn't find a big enough piece of pink foam.

I guess I could have put it in pieces on tie wraps on the 30 foot piece of PVC he's using to empty water in the yard.. ,, kinda like a curtain rod..

THATS IT MARC... we'll get you a big wroght Iron Curtain rod to mount on the wat above your tank and you can get motorized curtains for it... :lol2:

so what is with the pvc for the liverock?

oh how rude of me, my name is wanna and your tank is great, if you ever get tired of it you could sure house it in my basement, hehe.

Bahhhh haa ahhaaa haaaa

Actually, since the facade isn't finished on your tank Marc, the clock is till ticking,

Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,

How long is this project taking? Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,Tick, tock,

Keith, have you noticed the detritus/rubble from the live rock move/sway with the wavebox extension. I get a real small wave with one box! I need to buy the extension still (thats on my list of to do's).

I like the rock work. It kinda reminds me a bit of Steve Cungs tank. I think that your tank will look pretty sweet once it is finished.

If I was to do mine over again, I would have taken a 1/4 inch masonary drill bit and poked a ton of holes into the rock. I would have used rigid air line tubing and glued my frags to that outside of the tank and pegged everything into place. It is great to throw an efflo or a hyacintus off the side of the structure if all you need to do is slip the ridgid air line tubing into a hole!

It is amazing how these big tanks lose perspective with all of these pictures! I like this 20 gallon long!

im an idiot but exactly what is star board?

Starboard is a brand name. HDPE (High density polyethylene) or the material that cutting board is made of can also be used. Starboard has become like Kleenex, Tivo and Rollerblades. Anyway, you don't need anything covering the bottom it is just insurance to protect against a rock that may fall to the bottom.

Thanks for the recognition Ryan.

Keith, the rockwork has lots of potential. I really dig it. Just get some kick a$$ SPS colonies growing on it and it will look totally awesome.

Can't wait for more updates.

Speaking of, what's next on the agenda?

so is there any info on the fabrication of the rock stands? or did i miss it in the thread? or is it hidding on r/c somewhere that is detailed, what are they actually called?

I'm not sure there is a name. Heck I'm not even for sure where I first copied the idea. Calfo has presented it at some MACNA, Carlson the same, etc. Several threads about it. There is no real rocket science to it. It's just PVC pipe that you drill holes, shape, and zip tie rocks to so it makes the shape you want!

Next let's see? I guess the whole electrical will be next. I also need to get the aquacontroller up and going. Right now it's a really expensive Temp, pH and ORP meter. I also need to make the setup for my topoff and water change tubs. So lots still to do!

Ryan the wavebox is amazing. I get great "sway" from it. Detritus in the middle moves a good 4 inches one way and then 3 back the other. Quite impressive to watch! I'll try to get a movie of that to show. Even with the return on the wave is still 1.5"

Keith, I just got 10 GFCI outlets from Ebay for $68 shipped. These have a small green LED on each one, so I can tell if they have power at a glance. I'm going to replace some of the outlets in my power panel with these, especially the lights.

That way if a fish splashes the lights and trips the GFCI, it'll hopefully just trip one light instead of the entire circuit that DJ switch is plugged into.

Way cool keith,, I made me a 1200 mod MJ and now im wondering how to DIY my own wavebox... I think i got a plan.... I figured the water can only go into it one way,, and come out one .. Just wish I had a table saw.......

Amazing tank and great thread. I read the entire thing (not one sitting however). It has come along nicely.
I have not yet seen a planned fish stocking list yet.
Looking forward to a quick video of the wave box action. :)
