One thing I love checking out these threads is that there is someone always trying new things. Love your stand! The woodwork is not only top notch but very classy and different! Your corals and fish are awesome. Will be following your build for sure!

Thanks, things are coming along. I took pictures because last night had near disaster with big skimmer overflow. Thanks to Apex got a text message at 2am, alarm that water on the floor of my fish room. Water everywhere. Bad thing to happen if i wasn't around. Always a fragile balance, no matter how careful you are and how many redundancies you build in to your system. Thought I better take a couple pictures just in case.

There's a lot of stuff going on in my tank, but right now my favorite thing is just watching the Achilles Tang swim. Most fish swim for a purpose, he just seems to swim miles for the pure enjoyment of it. Incredibly graceful, loves to fight the flow and just never stops. Does make me a bit sad he's not in the ocean, but at least he's in a pretty big tank. Here's an old picture of him:

Poor photo skills but pretty cool battle for space going on here. Idaho Grape (near pest) is coming up from under the Lime in the Sky and smothering it down low, but Strawberry Lemonade colony is growing into the Lime and over the Grape, and it stings and kills the Grape. Yet it doesn't seem to sting and kill the Lime in Sky. I'll try and get a better picture but here's a weak attempt:

Secret of coral growth? Time i suppose. All of my coral started from frags of other RC people's tanks. I suppose if they were successful in someone else's tank then they are more likely to do well in aquarium conditions.

just an inspirational tank... one of the best examples ever of watching a reef grow!!! it takes alot longer to let that happen and i give you tremendous kudos for not running out and buying large colonies!!! when you sit back now and watch your masterpiece i hope you have a tremendous feeling of pride!!! it is stunning, also i always ask, may i use some of your pictures for my slide show on my computer..

keep up the wonderful work and i cant wait for the next installment of pictures!

Sure, you can use any of my pictures for whatever.

I started with a healthy MI from Divers Den. He was eating well off the start. I quarantined with cupramine and prazi pro, as i have with all my fish. I feed a varied diet and a lot. In particular, I feed live clams and sponge containing O.N. Large Angel frozen. I also feed a lot of live blackworms and some spectrum pellets. Lastly, i don't have any really aggressive fish so he/she is never intimidated. I've had the MI for about 1.5yrs, hopefully it'll stay in good health but a little early to celebrate yet.

Thanks for all the compliments.

I really believe in starting with frags from other people's tanks. Not only from the ethical perspective, but from long-term success in terms of keeping coral alive and healthy. I've had too move my whole tank and occupants, had a few KH spikes up and down, some other errors that could have caused big problems, and they've lived through it all. Not to mention they've got to put up with a very large H. Magnifica anem that stings those corals that surround it and pen it in its spot. Takes some patience up front, especially in a big tank, but i think pays off. I had wild colonies in my old 125gl and anyone that can keep them happy is better at this hobby than I am.
