5 / 10 micron filter & Lanthanium HELP

Need help dripping diluted (10ml/gal top off) Lanthanium Chloride (LC) safely in my tank to control phosphates. I found a 5"x8" cotton 5 micron filter sock on line but when I dripped into the sock it still allowed quite a bit a precipitate into my DT which my tangs did not like. It seemed to flow through the stitching holding the sock together. I did use the two socks to filter my run off water and it cleared up in a few hours. I would rather this not happen again. I was able to lower my phospates to about .04 quickly but they went back up to .10 after 2 weeks.

Questions:
What filter sock should I be using that people have had success?
Best dilution amount?
Drip rate?
How often do you dose?

Thanks for any help and advise.
Mike

I suggest dosing the lc a good distance from the sock to allow the particles to bind up and all the lc to react. as for dripping, it should be done as slowly as possible ,that is why i recommand using a dosing pump.

I would have thought 5 microns would have been enough, but you might be right about the stitching issue. I haven't used a filter sock, so I can't comment, but it is possible that the precipitate is forming after the lanthanum chloride gets past the sock.

could you drip into the overflow and allow that short time for the LaCl to precipitate and be captured by the sock?
i have never dosed but i am looking into it

I dose it into the ozone port of my skimmer, the movement of water inside allows all the lc to react and the skimming removes the precipitant.

I'd be hesitant to dose lanthanum into a running tank in the manner described because of this:

Lanthanum Chloride and Zebrasoma Tangs, Deadly?

It is anecdotal evidence but it still raises concerns for me, especially considering the steps he took to increase the dwell time. If I were to use it I would lean towards a dual reactor like the one linked above. Here is the DIY lanthanum reactor that is of the same design as the reactor listed above.

I've dosed LC, I slowly added to skimmer air intake. I was dosing 5ml a day about 200g system for two weeks.
You need to be very careful. Corals need some phoshate or they will RTN. Happens very fast, one day they look fine, the next half of thier tissue is lost. SPS and LPS.
I had a desjardini in DT with no problems.
