Still lookin good.. the lack of any powerheads or heaters in the tank, plus the black background really looks awesome.

Thanks! I might consider starting to produce these modded AGA 5.5g tanks and selling them... maybe even build hoods and sell them too =) its a fun little system to fool around with and it fits right on your desk I love watchin the domino damsel and the coral banded shrimp... saltwater fish are definitly more personable than freshwater fish.

Wood fillered the base tonight... going to sand and refiller and sant more tommorow and hopefully paint... takin a trip the the LFS to purchase some live rock rubble, may-b another snail and even a frag!

What kind of personality does your coral banded shrimp have? Mine stays in his little cave all day, never comes out, and killed a cleaner shrimp we had in the tank.. I hope yours is cooler than that!

The tank and overall construction look really nice. 4 lights:eek1: It seems the 2 screw ins are under the other 2 CF's, don't they block them a little? Can you post some info on what temp. you run? Oh, my original question, did you find that black acrylic from a nation wide retailer?

Thanks!

Thanks!

WSC - the coral banded hides in its cave 50% of the time and is out exploring and finding food the other 50% if i want to see him all i do is drop a piece of brine shrimp in and he comes running out... also when i put my coralife temp probe in the main tank he reaches for it which is really funny to watch... he also tries to get my damselfish but he cant because the damsel is real fast... although his fins get nipped sometimes but i've never seen it happen

AIMfish - thanks! the screw ins are under the other fixture but i dont think they really block them all that much or if it even makes a difference , the tank is definitly brighter and my zoos a whole lot happier... I run at 77.0 - 78.6 never seen any other temps outside that range... but I'm going to swap in a marineland stealth heater (very good heater) that I can set the tempature... so when the lights go out the temp will be the same as lights on... as far as the black acrylic... which is from what i understand pretty hard to get your hands on... i got for 10$ from a auto parts/glass place called american glass (local) they cut it to size and i dremeled the holes... it is 1/8" thick as well as my glass baffles

Any other questions don't hesitate to ask!

Rain rain rainnnn...

Rain rain rainnnn...

Today it is raining... rain = bad because I can not spray paint outside in the RAIN... no other places to spray paint =( the base will have to wait another day or week or so because its supposed to rain all week... oh well... rescheduling my trip to the LFS until tommorow! I have an extra 5.5g AGA tank... anyone have any ideas what I should do with it? How bout a GIANT brine shrimp factory! hahahah let me hear your ideas... keep in mind i do not want a sump or any more fish tanks (I already have 2)

BASE IS COMPLETE!

BASE IS COMPLETE!

All of your base are belong to us. The base looks fantastic... it really ties the whole tank together and balances out the hood:

Man that looks really nice, great work!

Definatly!

Shaping up to look sort of like yours ben. ;)

I have to say--even though i have no idea if this is true for this particular project-- your nano really inspired alot of people. :)

I really like this tank. :)

Yeah seeing your construction makes me punch myself in the head. You probably learned alot from any mistakes I made. Like how I said how far to place the slots from the side and to not use semi-transparent acrylic (lol). My tank is coming along if you've been checking nano-reef. I have a light upgrade on the way. Tommorow I recieve my 2x28watt kit. It will be combined with the current 28watt for a total of 84watts over the tank. Right now I also have a 13watt 7k lighting the fuge. Later Dude

Thanks to everyone!

Thanks to everyone!

Thanks alien for those nice words... I must give credit where credit due... Ben and Brent both inspired me for this project... they both have been extremely helpful along the way... my tank is a combination and alteration of both their designs... thank you guys! LFS tommorow for live rock rubble! Cheato sooonnn can't wait... thinking about getting some purple up to increase coraline on my back wall.... and I NEED MOONLIGHTS

No problem dude! :)
I hear purple up really does the trick.

You could diy some moonligts, with some cristmas decorations. ;)

Thanks... more pics

Thanks... more pics

Thanks for the great compliments... I picked up a hammer coral, some pulsing xenia and a bunch of assorted zoos. I had to net the xenia onto a rock... it looked terrible for the past day but its finally starting to come around... it doubled in size since i put it in the tank on tuesday (today is thursday) I hope to take the net off soon... anyone know how long it will take to attach? I have to get a shallow bowl and round up the 12+ loose zoos around my tank and glue them to a rock... more details when I get some free time here are some pics:

Yep, it's plastic netting holding the xenia onto a rock with a rubberband holding the netting onto a rock.... I saw GARF (www.garf.com) do it that way and have a ton of success... i just got home from work and my tank has spiked to 79.9* I might need to cool down the hood somehow afterall... the hammer coral looks pretty good but my xenia is looking a little wilty... I hope it makes it - I'm going on vacation Sunday and I wont return until the following friday - I will have my housemate taking care of the tank... daily topoffs and feeding of my damsel... i will clearly spell out everything and its pretty simple so he can't mess it up... but if something catastrophic happens I'm in trouble :( I am planning on taking the netting off my xenia on Saturday night... I hope it will have attached itself by then

man, that tank is smooth. Thats the only word to describe it; smooth...maybe seamless, but definately smooth....smooooooth

anyway about your heat...would it be too difficult to put some vent holes or slits in it (the hood that is)? It really worked for me and that would save yout he trouble of fans. Personlly i couldnt hancle anymore cords on mine. Had 8 already. Pain.

but you, smooth
