Well, I didnt do anything about the heater yet, so no new info there. But I have a bit more serious problem now, big algae bloom! Mostly all green hair algae but there is a little red hair too. Unfortunately, there is a big patch of red hair right next to the only corals I can get to grow, my polyps. I hope I can get it taken care of before they are smothered. Here are some pics....
Full tank shot...
closeup of highest center rock...
the red hair algae, doesnt look so purple in person...
closeup of it around my polyps...
green with small patch of red on the side walls...
So I tested my water quality, they read phosphate 0ppm, pH 8.4, ammonia .5ppm (recent spike, was at 0 3 days ago), trite 0ppm, trate 20ppm...
And I went to That Fish Place and got a lettuce nutibranch (sp?) and 2 blue legged hermits...
I really hope I can get this under controll before my polyps succumb to the beast. Any ideas how to combat this? I know its a new tank and I'll see my share of algae blooms, but that doesnt make it any easier. Thanks for taking a look.
