5 gpd on my RO

My RO filter dropped to about 5 gallons a day. It still reads 0 tds so I thought it was odd. I changed the prefilters and it didn't help with the gpd. I just thought I would see a change in tds before the drop in flow. Can you back flush the membrain?

Dude, my water filter does like 100g per day. Toss that old clogged membrane. Tom is correct that water pressure is important but I would tend to doubt that your water pressure has droppped so much as to cause your filter to dribble like that.

I do have the optional membrane flush kit on my filter, but it's more of a power rinse after filtering deal than a backflow to push material back out of the membrane thing.

I rinse the membrane for 30 seconds after each hour or so of filtering. Supposedly extends the life of the membrane.

Chris do you have it in the house or in the garage. because if it is in your garage the temp plays an important roll in getting optimal flow out of your RO unit at 72 degrees and if it is cold out like 50 you could get half the flow out of the unit or even less.

The unit is rated for 35 gpd. Lately I've been running it non stop for either top off or a WC. And yes, it is outside running all night and by morning I'll have a whole 5 gallons. It just supprised me that I was still getting 0 tsd. Guess I got my moneys worth.

I think some of that is because it's cold out but maybe one of your hoses or connections is clogged. Check the membrane cart chamber I actually get algae in there some times and it clogs the small membrane lines
