Me too ! Thanks for following

Just by looking at it, you can not be the only one this is happening to.
A simple plastic or foam cap on that end of the pump thats removed after shipping would easily resolve the problem.
Good luck and again beautiful build.

Or making that part removable rather than part of the larger piece, so that I could be installed after shipping ... or out of a thicker or more durable plastic ... I see several solutions.

This isn't the first time it's happened but it's fairly rare though this particular case exacerbates what is ultimately a simple fix. Unfortunately fright companies and in this case, baggage handlers manhandle boxes and if the back of the pump comes in contact with the box too hard, the tube that the fitting connects to can be severed as we have seen here. Royal Exclusiv USA adds packing peanuts to the inside of the box and double boxes the pumps to prevent that from happening. Still, that is an area that I do feel needs to be addressed. As Speed mentioned, a foam or plastic cap on the end of the pump with a notch for the AKB connection/tube is the easiest solution and one I have proposed to Royal Exclusiv in Germany as recently as a few days ago when Sirichok first encounter the issue with his original pumps . It would cost pennies and can be taped into the place on the back of the block to protect the AKB in transit.
The stem inside the back of the block is actually machined into the block. The John Guest style fitting that slips over it adds leverage to the tube and when blunt force is applied to the fitting at the wrong angle, the connection inside the block can break. Unfortunately there is no making the stem out of thicker material since it's actually machined into the block and designed to pass water from the pressure side of the pump the magnet cavity to keep it cool and reduce calcium buildup in the block. The foam is the one option which is simple and practical. Another option would be having the entire fitting glued into the place but in the event that an end user wanted to rotate the pumps volute, a longer piece of semi rigid tubing would be required between the fitting on the back of the block and the one of the volute. This would require addition tubing to be included and would also require a customer to get the tubing into place correctly so as to not encounter a leak. The fitting actually rotates on the stem so that if the customer needs to have the output facing a different direction, all they need to do is rotate the volute and the AKB tube will follow. Having the connection not installed prior to transport could leave potential for leaks if the end user doesn't get it seated all the way or inadvertent breakage to the stem inside the block if they do something stupid.
That said, I am hopeful that a simple solution will be implemented at the factory to insure this kind of a scenario doesn't occur in the future. It is something that is being discussed and reviewed. It's just unfortunate that this had to happen in this particular case. The good thing is that the fix is easy on Sirichok's end and his warranty will not be compromised. I just feel bad that this had to happen to him. Especially after he got the replacements which were expedited to him.
Thanks for the insight of how Royal exclusiv might address the problem !
You're very welcome. I actually got a reply from Germany this morning on the subject and they indicated they are making changes to the box to better protect the AKB. That could certainly be an easy fix. We didn't see these issues with the RD3 80 as that box is a bit different inside.
