50 Cube SPS Zeo Reef

Both of you should have your SPS forum posting privileges revoked............ what is wrong with you two :rolleye1:

Damn you're quick when it matters :hammer:

Can I make up for myself?? Remember that piece you forced me to buy? Well I hate to say it but you were right (not that I doubted) about it! It's a stunner!

This thing has the craziest polyps and green to it! Would you have any idea what it is Andrew?? I'd love to know but my ID'ing skills are still really terrible!

This one still has quite some way to go but it's getting there :)

Still holding some good colours but should get better when things get stable!

And a general water change shot

Says the guy with more flubber in his tank than some of the flubber dominated tanks in the flubber forum. :worried2:

Biggles stunner acro looks ace. Despite the fact that he uses a broomstick with blades to scape his tank clean (proper weird thing to do of course), I give credit to Biggles for being a know-it-all SPS guru.

Acros are looking very nice mate.

Hey buddy! Looking good!
Thanks mate! :)

Hahahaha

He is definitely a know-it-all! He simply pointed at the brown crappy acro and said "get that, trust me" so I did :hmm5: haha

Those acros are all looking healthy mate, just need to clean up your water a bit more and they'll brighten up i think - you must trust in the Force.......:strooper:

Address me as Darth Acro from now on please Wrangy or i'll do that finger strangle thing to your acros.....

haha thanks Darth Acro, I am merely your humble acrotrooper then :strooper: yeah I've still got a little while to go before I get the water where I want it to be. I did some tests this morning and things are finally starting to look good :)
Alk: 8.1dKH (dropped dosing a few ml's to get it back to 7.5dKH)
Mg: 1130ppm (a little low but still being brought up, nearly there though)
Ca: 350ppm (waaayyy low, cat knocked the dosing tube out of the tank so the cabinet was receiving a good Ca dosing for a week :fun5: lol)
Phos is the most out of whack due to killing the algae off with a blackout so I'm working on getting that back down with some zeozym and biomate. The tank is looking good and algae free though :)
Phos: 0.16ppm

Is this a LED only system?

Looks good.
Thanks mate :) yep it's an LED only system. 100w full spectrum Illumagic Blaze LED unit mounted about 10-12" off the surface.

You should call this the "Aussie Fuzzy Monkey"

or you could just say ' i run a 250W Radium '............:idea::p

Hopefully that's what I can say soon!
I'll need to buy a new electronic ballast though if I do want to run a Radium as the magnetic ballast that comes with the unit doesn't support Radium bulbs. I've got my name down for a Cebu Sun 250w MH and 4x 24w T5 unit so I should be getting that in a couple of weeks and hopefully the new ballast soon after as tax return will be getting me that!

Well the last couple of months have been a good time for getting corals that I've been waiting a long time for! Rainbow zoa's finally, a new white with blue tip piece of a. echinata that I lost during the restart, some nice deep water species (mostly a. granulosa and a a. loripes) and also finally after a long time a piece of sunset montipora :D now all I need to completely make me content is some really nice smooth skin acro's! No body wants to share them though :(
The colour on the sunset monti has come a long way from brown in a couple of weeks

I got bored this morning and the blues were looking good so this is what a bit of boredom has lead to lol
A few of my colourful zoa's, still digging the white/very light violet zoa's they're just so different!

Some lovely looking red hornet look-a-likes:

These are underrated, was going to sell them but they got better so now I'm keeping them haha

It's finally starting to grow, the frags I got from a friend are going killer now that parameters are nearly back in line. The monti cap is growing bananas too (not pictured)! Colour is slowly coming back after the nutrient spike due to killing the algae too!

Still one of my favourite inhabitants!

And a much better pic of the goldrush using a tripod :D

So as I mentioned in my other threads I have a few big changes coming to my system which is going to completely revamp it into an sps growing machine

Numero Uno:
The first and possibly biggest change I'm making is lighting! After two years of happily and to some extent successfully running LED's, I had the option to upgrade to some with a little more oomph... 350w of extra oomph!! This is coming in the form of a brand new (secondhand lol) metal halide and t5 hybrid unit! Going old school. 250w of MH power with 4x 24w t5's just to help out :D
The first step for that is to upgrade the ballast to an electric ballast so I can get one of those glorious 20k Radium bulbs running! The t5's will most likely be purely actinic/blue spectrum bulbs too. This is a huge step for me and one I've wanted to make since starting the hobby and now I have the chance so I'm a little excited! I'm getting a 2ft Cebu Sun unit :)

Numero Dos:
The next big change that's coming is a brand new venturi based skimmer, once again I'm going real old school for this one and ordering a Lifereef Skimmer as the design hasn't changed in 30 years or something! I've heard really good things about it so I'm keen to give it a go. No whizz bang gadgets or bells and whistles with this one just pure old school venturi skimmer power with plenty of contact time!
(due to the size and shape of the skimmer a new sump is in the works too lol the cade sump I have is ****! Haha)

Numero Tres:
The last thing on my list of changes is some newer and strong powerheads! I love my rw4's but they're both at max and I don't feel I'm getting enough so I'm going a little bigger and back to Tunze powerheads :) going to give two 6040's (the newest side mounted models) a go as they look awesome and I think they'll be what I'm looking for! I though about vortech but screw the noise and the price haha

And finally now that my parameters are finally settled and in the right place again the CaRX will FINALLY be coming online :D it's going to be a busy month for me but I'm looking forward to a bit of a revamp! Get some killer colour and growth going!
