If it's just BTA's no need for crazy strong light, just go w/ what is efficient.
I would not place hot MH on or near a plastic rubbermaid.

400 watt MH is crazy strong lighting for BTA tank which I agree is excessive. I have two 400 watts lights over a 300 gallon Rubbermaid tank currently. These tanks are industrial grade and tough. If I had to do it again I would have gone with 250s. I personal like the radium bulbs and use them over many of my BTAs. I was told by Matt from Coral Collections that he uses the 250 radium bulbs to prop his inferno and flame BTAs. His BTAs have insanely bright colors. I guess it comes down to goals and budget. You can definitely do BTAs on less light than the 250s, but I tend to overkill. Good luck.

BTA's are pretty forgiving when it comes to light needs.
I just think prop tank and small volume of water I'd be looking for efficiency and cool temp.
These were BTA's I had under a panorama pro LED fixture, colors held pretty bright, wandering very minimal.

Well its been very frustrating but i narrowed it down to galaxy 250-400 dimmable ballast running a iwasaki 250w se 6500k lumenbright reflector i like the option with halide for nems to hide on sides after cutting then they can move back to light and the 65k for growth as calfo has stated then color them up later

Now im leaning toward xm 10k or even phonix 14k do the radiums really grow i was under the impression they were to color up for sale and 6500k is best growth

Dimension are 48"x24"x18"? Dont quote me on height im now looking more at lumatek 250-400 dimmable lumenarc reflector for wider spread but bulb k has me mind f'ed still one second i want 65k then i want a 20k with amazing growth thanks for all the suggestions!!

With BTAs I believe that feeding is important for better growth rates for propagation. I don't have any experience with 10K or 6500 bulbs. I like 14K and 20K. I have XM and Radiums. I do not claim to have the best growth rates, but I don't think lowering my lighting spectrum will speed them up.

I hear ya i have 150w phoenix 14k on a 24 pod and i get great growth and lots of natural splits so might go for a 14k se i just purchased a lumatek 250/400 brand new for $90 and lumenmax elite reflector used for $90 as well just down to the bulb now i do love coral collections color using 20k radiums they also use led supplemented ive heard 460nm is the best to color them up within a weeks time for sale

I wish calfo or fragtrader could chime in most there posts i find are pretty old and lighting has changred but they did say 6500k iwasaki growth wise cant be touched but phoenix 10k sanjay says run closer to 7k and for lumatek 275 sl mode i think would be killer growth.. Anyone have proof of how quick bta can get color back using 460nm?

My problem in deciding is do i go 6500k have crappy color amazing growth supplement with 460nm or go with 20k radiums and lack growth but with 12" depth still get decent par? And assume feeding will grow ... Lights will sell em ive heard the pros use iwasaki then one week 460nm color them back up im habing hard time believing that a brown inferno or other rare morph snaps back to amazing color less than 1-2 months which = cost as much as 20k less growth bayoa also pointed out coral collections and just recieved some amazing colored morphs then got under my phoenix 14k 150w and bleached em out (mightve been shipping) confusing because its a debate that can never end wish calfo or someone could show how bad will a nem look with 65k time to recolor for sale vs 20k radium supplement 6500k t5 48"
