Hey i got no up dates as of today. It is up & running & live rock will be here tomorrow.I can wait to aquascape it.I got acrylic rods to to make 2 islands & a overhang between the 2 islands.I have a question for you shark fans. The tank is all new with 300 lbs of argonite superfine sand. The rock will be 250lbs of tonga fusion Show size pieces .I am wondering how long after the cycle i should let it go before i get my sharks? Thanks

I cycled my 150 gallon tank about 1.5 monthes before putting my shark egg in, but I was using an old tank, so the silicon and chemicals of a new tank were already gone from my previous 10 years of use on it; I was only cycling for ammonia spikes you see with new tanks. I also had a shark egg so its bioload was very small.

Sharks are pretty fragile animals so I'd wait longer and also vary the time based on the factor of shark species, shark form and size(egg or mature animal), and how much your ammonia is fluctuating. With sharks you will really want to make sure your system can handle and process large amounts of ammonia quickly considering the amount sharks produce %-wise in concentration is much higher than regular fish.

Are you starting with an egg? What species?

I am starting with a brownbanded cat it will be around a foot long when purchased .I will be putting my sohal in the tank first to get things going .I might wait till last he is pretty aggressive to new comers.I planned on waiting 6 to 8 weeks anyways.
