500 gallon monster from Canada :)

Ok so i am now at the point i need to connect my reeflink to my lights and for some reason it won't connect to ecosmart live!

has anyone else had issues with this? :)

Thanks!

Andrewkw- ya the tank is made to be a penninsula tank but in the space i have it has to sit the way it does unfortunately :(

i wont complain about it because its such a nice tank!

if you're looking for a big tank i have 2 for sale! one is 8' and totals about 250 gallons and one is 6' and is about 280 gallons
looking for $300 each :)

Are they acrylic too? pm sent but keep in mind I am on the other side of Canada...

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather here this weekend and getting the rock all dried out after nuking it for the last 4 weeks.

and getting some sanding and painting done, letting the girlfriend pic the colours and do the painting :)

Ok so here's a bit of an update :)

it's a slow process with me working 6 days a week so bear with me! :)

i got most of the skin for the stand built and framed up and got the majority of it painted, my gf as i said picked the colour but i think it actually turned out really nice

my place is a giant mess of blue and white at the moment haha

I managed to get the hanging kits for the radions up and mounted 2 of the lights, the other is on the holding tank for the fish and coral i have waiting for the tank :)

Hopefully tonight i can finish up the right side of the tank and get the return lined plumbed in finally and i'm hoping to have it up and running with water later this week :)
getting there!!

soo i totally forgot i had a thread started for this and i've had people bugging about updates on a diff forum! haha my bad!

will be adding more pics to the thread tmrw!

the tank is fully up and running and already has fish and coral in it!
i know thats a faux pas in our world to tease everyone like that but it'll be worth it :)

the tank colour even though not my first choice, (the stand) looks really good especially with the lighting finally set up and running properly!

more to come!
:)

ok so heres the update as promised and again sorry for the lack of pics and updates.

getting the canopy all wired up and ready with lights.

bad quality i know but thats what an iphone does for ya :)

a look at the tank from the side.

the water and rock going in.

some new additions that were in qt and are now in the display

Funny enough the clowns prefer the bubble coral over the anemone. they do host in both though.

This picture was before i installed the 3rd or 4th light if you're counting lol one of our radions actually ended up taking a swim in the qt tank a while back and we had to source out a new one so its finally installed now

And this is where we sit today

Fish List:

6 ocellaris clowns
Poma Angel
Chocolate Tang
we also have what i'd like to call a fire fish haha not sure on the exact name of it though

In QT:
White cheek tang
Powder Brown tang

Equipment List:

400 Gallon tank
90 gallon sump
3 Ecotech radions Gen2
Closed loop run with a panworld pump.
Return run with hammerhead hybrid.
2 mp40esw
an old school reeflo skimmer made for a tank up to 600 gallons.
36w UV light
auto dosers for 2 part calc solution.

thanks!

having a bit of an issue with my return bringing a lot of bubbles into the tank! any ideas on what could be causing this?

i checked all the plumbing and no leaks so im not sure what else would be the reason for this?

Cavitation can be caused by the water being pushed through a narrow constriction and then widened suddenly, but if your return piping is all the same size it's more likely you've got a pinhole at a joint that is sucking in air.

great so looking for a pinhole should be fun haha

If it were me, I wouldn't necessarily look for the pinhole at all. I would just get some silicone and put a thin layer on the joints in your return line.

I would just put some on your finger and simply rub a layer on the joints rather than trying to put a normal bead on them.

ya i figured i would have to do something like that it just sucks because my return line is rather complicated based on the size of the tank but ah well such is life with a large aquarium :)

thanks!!
