You are building my dream/next tank real nice plan.My main concern is the electrical needs did you have to rewire tank room new circuit breakers at box etc.? Have you any idea how much money per month to run tank (electric bill)? Also what kind of return pumps are you planning on using etc.? Thanks for blazing a sweet trail.

Update

Holes are drilled in the wood, power points in place. Tank glass is ordered and will be built on the spot in about 2 weeks. Lifereef isn't far away. Cya soon!

Although I am a fellow reefer and I am just as guilty for taking wild corals and fish I do not like the fact that the GBR is being torn apart for profit. It is one of the last large reef colonies in the world. Nothing personal and I know I will draw harsh criticism for this comment. I just felt it needed to be said.

Hi, we were going to go with acrylic but didn't because of the scratching.. and availability. The tank will have 15mm glass with a starfire front with bracing. Although I think it might have a 19mm bottom.

Torn apart?
You realise that one oceanic storm does more damage to the reef then all the coral collectors combined over the course of a year.

The environmental impact we have on corals on the GBR is akin to a push bike's impact on the road surface of a 100 lane highway.

Not personal, just ignorance. Don't buy into the media hype.
