500g Display 1200g system almost ready for fish.

thanks... the percs dance all the time... havent seen any eggs yet but who knows. I got the Clowns from Phishy Buisness as with most of the other fish in the tank.

I just got the wrasses today.... I love them. I am still waiting on the tangs. Phishy is trying to find me the right ones.

I think I have decided against the achillis(sp) but still plan on adding in:

Naso
Blond Naso
Black tang
Purple Tang
Chevron Tang

After these are added I will work on some other fish.

I imagine I will need some utility fish to work on certain jobs in the tank but haven't decided what yet.

I am still deciding on an angel(s). I don't want the same old angels you see in most tanks but it is hard to pass up the flame angel for the colors.

Looking for suggestions for reef safe angels.

what about a red sea regal? although i would wait until your tank was more mature, that is a spectacular fish.

Your tank is spectacular. I am just amazed by how beautiful the fish look. I cannot wait to see how you plan to fill it out. Phishy seems to be an amazing store, I'm very impressed with the quality and pricing every time I'm there, especially when compared to the other stores in the columbus area. Don't have a SW tank yet, still gathering information so that I don't make half the mistakes I made with my FW tank.

If you'd like, I would offer my services as an amateur photographer to be able to pick your brain and see how you have everything plumbed.

Good luck with the tank.

PM me sometime hedgelj if you want to come by and look at the plumbing I will gladly show it to you. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to run all the drains and returns.

I have TONS of plumbing in my system!

Just added a large bubble coral, pink tube worm, and some daisy star polyps. Pics coming soon after everything is all the way opened!

Oh and as for Phishy Business... I buy most of my stuff from them. I just feel like I get taken care of well there. They aren't afraid to tell me to wait to buy something if it isn't right for my tank yet.

I have tried to buy items that were a few hundred dollars on multiple occasions and they have said not to do it until this or that happens.

I have been wanting a calcium reactor for a while now and offered to buy the smaller one and they told me to just wait for the bigger one and set me up with what I need to hold me over.

I drive 30 minutes 1 way every time I have to go there. They are worth it! If you haven't checked them out yet you need to.

Have a look at a goldflake angel. Stunning fish and supposedly docile and reefsafe. I'm looking for one at the moment.

I am putting a GEO Calcium reactor on. I am going to use the 624 unit.

As for the Gold Flake I am pretty sure Phishybusiness.com has one right now. It looked very healthly last time I was in the store.

I may consider that Angel, I want the Angel to be the last fish I add to the tank just in case.

are goldflakes reef safe?

I am not 100% that they are but I have heard people say they are

It all depends on the fish... Only real way to know is to try it out... Most are prob not reef safe, but some may never touch a coral in its life...

Marinecenter.com describes it as the best possible large angel for a reef tank.

hi uztaryn,

i've been researching reef safe large angels for a few months now and it seems like everyone has a different opinion but here is the general concensus:

reef safe: any angel in the genus genicanthus ie bellus, swallowtail, zebra. what's cool about them are, you can keep a pair, unlikely with a large pomocanthus or holocanthus

reef safe except zoas: regal, but if it's not from the red sea and eating, it's likelyhood of survival is dismal and even if the conditions are met, alot perish

more hit than miss: majestic, asfur, goldflake, chrysurus, imperator and for a few people, bluefaces more then likely to eat zoas and fleshy lps but more don't than do. also the genus chaetodontoplus seem to do well and are small and more peaceful like the blue line and scribbled.

more miss than hit: french, any holocanthus, etc

here are some great links about the subject:

i'm probably going to try a large imperator but my tank is going to be a fish only with a few leather corals and mushrooms

Its looking really great. I smell a CORA tank tour? Maybe you could even open up the LFS in your basement for business :p

LOL ... well the tanks in the basement are really pretty empty except for some frags and 3 fuges.. I do have quite a bit of breeding going on in the fuges.

2 cleaner shrimp are holding fry right now and snails seem to breed often.

My pod factories are overproducing along with the macros.

I will be converting one of my tanks to a cryptic fuge soon. I am really only holding off on new stuff right now for a calcium reactor.

Thanks for the compliments. I have had a few people over so far, but the tank is far from being done.
