50g SPS Cube

I love the tank one of the nicer LED SPS tanks for sure, great aquascape as well. Great colors.

I was wondering what media you were running in the BRS style reactor?

Also what type of kalk reactor are you running with your top off?

nice work

Thank you very much...The BRS reactor is full or aragonite, I'm using it as a second chamber for my calcium reactor...The kalk reactor is a Tunze

Nice, a really cool idea using it as a second chamber. How long does your media and CO2 usually last? I am assuming you have a 2.5 lb bottle in there?

I started with a 2.5, it lasted over a year, and the first batch of media lasted probably 8 months but when the tank was new and all the coral were small frags I had the drip very slow. WHen I replaced the tank I put a 5lb in and the corals are consuming so much now I have to top off the reactor every month otherwise it doesn't keep up with the demands

Great looking tank! I like the aquascape i just built one that is very similar but mine is from scratch.

Awesome looking corals!!

Probably one of the best LED set ups out there.

Can you please give your thoughts on why LED's are working for you, and why maybe so many others have issues (without going into water quality etc).

Maybe it's because you run full spectrum straight nine hours without messing sound with blue and actinic and dimming etc...

Many thanks.

Thank you very much...I am not a lighting expert and I have no tests to back this up so this is strictly my opinion. My guess is that it has something to do with the color of the LEDS being used and the completeness of the light spectrum. Iv'e seen a lot of fixtures that are only white and blue LED's and tanks that have used them and struggle, the tanks that seem to have success with LED seem to be those with RGB. Red, Green and Blue LED's to offer a complete spectrum of color...again, I have not done any research or experimentation, its simply a guess that I have thought about on occasion. I'm pretty certain the dimming vs. on/off at 100% intensity doesn't matter, because I was getting very good results on my 300g tank at home which also used Radions and I had that tank dimming on and off, only reaching full intensity for about 4 hours a day

Small Update, I switched out the deep blue Kessil for 2 14k Kessil's, so my lighting now consists of a gen1 Radion with TIR lenses and 2 14k Kessil 150's. I also switched out my return pump for one of the DC Reef Octopus pumps, so far I am very happy with the lights and the pump.

New Lighting

Recent FTS- I did a lot of trimming before Christmas so its not looking as thick as it was

And here is a shot of the stylo I glued underneath everything to cover some exposed rock, so far its doing what I wanted and expanding over the rock without branching out

WOW!!!!

Even with the trimming, the corals have grown so much!

Can you please provide full details on what you feed the fishes and the SPS corals?

Many thanks.

I feed 2 cubes of Spirilina enriched Brine & Mysis per day and every once in awhile I will throw in a chunk of Rod's Reef Food.

Great, thanks!

I just started using both the Spiriluna enriched Brine and Mysis too! I will add a bit of a variety too. Thanks!

very nice jason. considering led now

Thanks!

Tank is looking awesome!

Thank you!

Nice!! does the Kessil give more shimmer vs the ecotech?

I actually have never run the Kessils without the Ecotech on so I don't know but I didn't notice any additional shimmer when I turned the Kessils on, if I had to guess I would say they are about the same shimmer wise, the Ecotech is much brighter though
