55 Gal drums

I found this guy on recycler selling 55 gal. blue drums for $20. They have 2 bung holes on top. He said they had orange juice and apple juice in them. Would it be ok to use these for holding top off water and salt water? If so, what would they need to be cleaned with to get them ready? Is this a good deal?

Talk to Golfish, he gets similar barrels sometimes. Not sure if he is still getting or what he'd charge you, but they are safe for use with your RO or saltwater. I have one from him and I cleaned it with just water and baking soda.

If you do buy that recylcer barrel just wash it out with water, then fill with water and a couple boxes of baking soda. This will remove the juice odor.

Those drums should be just fine to use, like Ken said, rinse em out reall good before you use em.

I'll no longer do a thread on drums. Its not that I can't bring em home its just that it got way out of hand last time. I had some things happen that made me think twice about doing freebies for peope I don't know.
