550 gallons deep display from Lebanon

Thx krjackso for the comments. If given the choice, and the builder is someone you trust, it is definitely the better option.

Lighting will be all LEDs with a mix of Maxspect 230 W and some chinese high power LEDs with color and optics mix. I am willing to give it a shot and then see how it goes. Personally I believe these are proven lights and they fit the bill for me in terms of budget, heat, and electrical consumption. I will dwell more into them once received.

Ok, so we had the leak test today. Maher (tank builder) wants to see how much the back panel will bow without the bracing and was not one bit concerned about leaks. He wanted to see stress points and bowing.

The back panel did bow after we filled it halfway through and we will add a double external brace for that reason. At the end all the bowing accounted for 2 to 3 mms.

Now onto the photos:

Tank has water for the first time!

I could not help myself, I got these Ledio LEDs back with me from Tokyo and I had to give them a try.

We also gave the Skimmer a run, I can tell you that aquabee pump is very very powerful!

I have some of those chinese high powered LEDs and I am very pleased and happy with their performance. Didn't know what to expect, cause my budget didn't allow for the fancier fixtures at that time and I was skeptical of a DIY build. But again, pleasantly surprised from my switch from 400 watt halides. I would do some research though into DIY fixtures. Just my 2 cents. That's the route I am about to pursue to get the necessary depth penetration I need in my tank now. Again, really love the tank. Take lots of pics. It will never be this clean again!!!

Great dimensions.
With great aquascaping this can be a dream tank.
Try checking about ceramic rocks , I just use them for a new Tank of my friend.
and we got great results.

krjackso, DIY is not an option even if my life depended on it. I am not good at it. I have been following LEDs for a very long time and the company doing them for me are quite knowledgable about their product. They did exactly what I asked them to, at least so they claimed! I will wait and see. As for Maxspects, they are all over the place and price/quality have really proven their worth.

yitman, thx for the comment. This is exactly what I am currently doing, ceramics are my first choice. Wether base rock or ceramics, both have to be shipped in, and since I am looking at a minimalistic look, ceramics seem less of a hassle and the end product would look much better. I totally agree with you. It will all come down to pricing, as we are getting pretty close to what I want. The company I am dealing with is based in Germany and they are giving me some great suggestions. Once I have a draft, I will post it to get some feedback.

yitman, thank you very much for posting photos of your scape, it's amazing! Congrats!. I believe that we are both working with the same guy!

THEDLO, nuccadoc, krjackso, thx for your comments.

gods child, there is a company in Germany that is them. I am currently working on several ideas with them and will post some photos as soon as we start having something concrete.

Tank looks even better with water in!!!
So how many days will the additional brace set you back?
Are you starting with electrical and plumbimg yet?

Thx Maroun!

It will not set back, it will be done along with the overflow. No plumbing or electrical yet.
I am receiving 2 maxspect LEDs and the RR wavemakers tomorrow!
Traveling again on Sunday, so not much done on the tank at the moment...

Lebreef, congratulations on the tank, very beautiful, this is my first post and i'm new into this hobbie, just starting to build my reef tank will be following yours to gain more experience on this, have a nice trip and keep us updated...
