55g tank build

I'm still battling GHA, but it's getting better.

I went to LFS on Monday and there was a carrier sitting outside. In Texas on Monday, the temp got down to 40. So I check the store and they hadn't opened yet, which is odd because they open at 8am and i was there at 9:15am. Checked the carrier and 2 kittens were in it. No one came after a few more min so i took them home and fed them and got them warm.

They looked as though they had been there for about a day or so(my LFS is closed on sundays.) I have found homes for the little ones, but i still have them... today they leave.

good for you...i hate to sound like PETA but some one should put whoever left them in that crate there and see how they like that...and nice tank...love the pink birdsnest!

Had a great trip. Here are some shots of the trip before and after the snow arrived... which came a day later. We had 4in and our flight was delayed. We were suppose to fly and be home by 11:20pm but we didn't get in until 1:45am. yay...

The day before

Yes you are seeing that image correctly... I'm not use to seeing that here in Texas you know?

IMG_0680.jpg

Later that night it got colder then here in TX. It was 57 when we arrived and dropped to this

IMG_0656.jpg

So we fell to sleep and POW!

Snow galore!

Last photo for today. I went to a friends house and they said they went to FL for a vacation... They showed me this guy...

IMG_0710.jpg

I've never seen a shell quite like it. Any thoughts on what it could be?

So I started a new project...
IMG_0712.jpg

I've never used one before... here i go.

I don't like the fact that most of the time i'm home i can't really look at the tank because it's night and my moon light i do have is really crappy blue burned out light... so i stopped by Radio shack and got me some LED's... i should have read a bit because i would have realized that they were green... i even took a pic and didn't realize it
IMG_0713.jpg

So i went a tried to hook it up and yeah with this resistor
IMG_0722.jpg

and it burned put because i'm a doof and got just the regular type of output wire it turned on, and that's when i realized it was green, and the resistor started to smoke. Unplugged and had to airiate the house because it was starting to smell wreched!

Started over, got some new lights (white this time :o)
IMG_0720.jpg

same resistors
IMG_0722.jpg

Soldered them together
IMG_0716.jpg

Again i have never done this before so that last pic shows the resistors going the opposite direction. Didn't realize it.

So i tried to hook up the first and to no avail. i didn't know what was going on so i could only assume that i put the resistor backward... oops.

Hooked it up again and...

and he said let there be light
IMG_0723.jpg

So i now have to just finish putting heat-shrinking tubing, which i will post later, and linking them together in a chain to make a LED moon light... i'm excited!

Here's the pic of the burn out, btw

IMG_0717.jpg

Enjoy!

Looks like you can't read my page, nor the packaging. Still, you got some light out of them. For moonlighting, blue is the preferred color. Now that you've practiced, I bet the next set will be awesome. ;)

What's with the blurry pictures? Too much coffee? You know you can do better than that.

i was in a hurry to post them and take them. i was shaking from being afraid of getting shocked... glad i didn't, but i was waiting for it hehe. I know some of them are blury not all of them :p .

OH, and btw, i can change the V's that come out of the power supply, so it won't effect it, again i'll take a less blurry picture tonight or tomorrow

So i've completed the project "LED by Moon" lol, here's the power supply i used, notice it has the option of intensifying and decreasing the voltage output. I Tied 3 LED's together, at the bottom is a tank shot, but you really can't see anything it's way to dim and my camera is way too cheep...

Anywho here are the shots (i hope they're better well at least the first shot)

IMG_0727.jpg

I hope someone out there can see it... kinda? Sorry

For the whole project it cost me around $6 for the lights and 3 for the wiring and because i got my dc power supply from radio shack and it was the way i wanted it, it cost me around $17 i think. You can get them for cheeper elswhere i'm sure. they had one onsell for 1.75 and it was a 3v.

What? All your images are in focus. That's nuts.

LMAO! Thanks Marc, glad you approve. I tried hard and I only took 2 shots of everything this time rather then 1... and the Mille is in focus rather then the rock behind it right :p. I take every thing you say into account... i am just a bit stubborn :D

welp, i've just done the best water change ever...

I did the change and put my hand into the water the move something and i felt a sting in my finger.

Pulled it out and thought it was a cut in my finger (which i do have) and tried with my left hand... Yeah, it hurt again.

I had loose electricity from my RIO 800. It took my a little while and killing the power all at once then un plugging everthing thing one by one to find it, but i did.
