55g tank build

My pump cause my 25g display tank to overflow cause the siphon was broken. For somereason when this happend the SG shot up to about 1.032... way way too high. i've taken care of it and thankfully all the coral are fine, but my one fish (Tomato Clown) is suffering from it. I've moved it into my 55g and i hope he'll make it.

In the meanwhile i've torn down my 25g and i'm going to use the 10g that was being used as the refugium, will now be used as a propagation tank. I've got it up an just need the eggcrate and pvp to hold it up (i think i might make a staircase to bring up the corals that need more light higher).

All the corals that were suffering have been moved to the 55g and are looking good. I'll show pics of what's coming up soon.

Well, i've finally have taken them... Top down photos, woot!

Looking good. Love that orange scroll coral.
the white on your staghon montiporah could have been growth signs as they grow a white skeleton and then cover it with tissue! it also could have been RTN so I can't rule it out.
Guess you should slow down on rapid changes and moves in the tank.
can't really understand howyour SG would change to a 1.032 after a flood?

Thanks, and i couldn't figure out why the SG was so high during the flood. My tomato clown died :sad2: the staghorn is looking better now and what ever the white stuff is, it's blowing off it now, and the tips are showing white which would be the growing part.

I'm not going so quickly with changes in the tank. i just consolidated 5years into a few weeks basically.

Eye candy

First the new prop section. Mind you the tank was off and i turned the light back on for these shots, so the corals will be withdrawn.

I hope you enjoy it.

Params

NO3=5.0ppm
Ca2=420ppm
dkh=10dkh
SG=1.026
PO4=.025ppm

PO4 and NO3 could use a fixen, but everything is looking good over all.

BTW, I'm feeding my corals "Coral Frenzy", now i don't know if it's because of this food they are looking as good as they are, but i do know that i'm finally seeing growth in my Orange scroll :D... which turns out to be a Turbinaria Sp. or Ruffled Ridge Coral. Sorry every one :/

My wife just gave me some of the greatest new i could ever get... she informed me that as long as we could afford it, she's ok with me upgrading and doesn't really care how bit it is... I'm so glad i married her! :-D

:lol: Tell her thank you, and HOLD OFF until you get this tank down to a science. It is far easier to learn on a smaller system, because it won't cost nearly as much to make corrections.

You've already overcome a few challenges, so keep up the good work and plan for that next upgrade slowly. That way you won't have regrets later.

Thanks, as i get more into SPS, i learn so much more. I'm not upgrading until i get this down well. I'm very patient and willing to wait.

I have told her thanks and i greatly look forward to it! :-D
