I have a 150w heater. And yes I have a fan blowing directly into the fuge but now that I think about it I forgot to turn it off last bight and that may be why the temp dropped. Thanks for the advice Dustin.

Still waiting for the tank to cycle. I set up a 10 gal QT yesterday and am waiting on it to cycle as well. Params are holding stable and I have the temp well under control. In the meantime while I waited I just had to soak up some of this awesome weather were having here down in Texas so I decided to get a little dirty and ride my little scooter.....which is my other addiction. Ive been riding dirt since I was about 8 years old, and you just don't ever grow up enough to just stop.. Heres some videos and pics of the bike and me getting some air.

Alright guys, My QT is going and im assuming it will cycle pretty quick. Time to get my first fish...I was wondering how many fish could I add to the system. I need some help on what fish to add first. I was wanting some suggestions. I know for a fact that I want a flame hawk, and maybe a small yellow tang which they are my favorites. Any input would be appreciated!

This tank will be mainly LPS and softie dominated with a few SPS

Im also seeing a diatom bloom as well....Im thinking this is positive and the cycle is going well!

Scott: Thanks dude! Yeah I was really worried about the overflow box sticking out like a sore thumb considering the way I scaped the tank...but it blends right in with the background! Very pleased with it!
 
Quick update.

Ammo = 0
Trites = .2 as of yesterday
pH = 8.2
Alk = 13
Mag = 1100
Cal = 360
Sg = 1.024

I have a good outbreak of diatoms so im assuming the cycle is well on the downfall. The tank turns 14 days old tomorrow and as soon as trites fall to 0 I will add a CUC. Suggestions?

Also another question guys, should I be worried about my alk being 13??? I have been adding b ionic two part 15ml a day to get my cal up also BRS mag. I know some have said not to dose but i really don't see a problem. Please let me know if im rushing or being naive.
 
2 part should be dosed as two part to keep levels stable.

If the Ca is low but the alk where you want it (or high), you should add only the Ca part (or another Ca specific additive) to bring the levels into balance. Then use equal parts of two part to maintain.

Thanks Jimmy. I just retested my alk and I must have messed up some how yesterday. The alk is reading 8-9 hard to tell with an API test kit. But i do remember that yesterday I dosed and then shortly after I tested alk so maybe that caused a false reading. Thats the only thing I can think of. Thank you for the help btw.

So alk today will be 8-9 kh
Cal 320...Which went down and makes no sense because theres nothing in the tank consuming the cal...maybe the rocks are consuming it???
