57 Rimless Illuminata Build!

Add CA then test to get the desired levels, which is 420-450. Get the dosing started then test again after a couple of days or so, then adjust accordingly.

Alright ill give it a try! Tank is cycled but now I'm trying to get my elements where I want them so I can transfer all my corals to the tank.

Alright boys, Heres a param update:

SG 1.025
calc 340
alk 12
mag 1200
ph 8.4
nitrite 0
ammo 0
nitrate 0
temp range 76 at night then up to 81, 82 during the day.

Added six hermits and 6 snails to clean up the diatoms. All are alive and kickin so im assuming the cycle has completed but I will still wait another week and half just to make sure no nitrite s will spike.

Question: When should I transfer all my corals to the tank from my 72. There doing fine at my buddies house so im not in to big of a hurry. I still wanted to get the calc up to at least 400 untill I add them. What do guys think? Help would be greatly appreciated!

I used that salt for a year or so. I had no complaints, it got hard after a while, but that happens to any salt if you don't use it fast enough. JME

I really doubt your calcium is at 340. My calcium with a ton of coraline covered rock and a few corals stayed at 440 with water changes every 2 weeks. This was with instant ocean salt.

Calcium tests are wrong pretty often. Mine said 450 consistently, but I had it tested by an analytical chemistry lab and the result was 350.

So you guys think I should just finish out this bucket of IO and then switch to red sea? O and I also wanted to ask what you guys think of me adding a cleaner shrimp next week sometime. Tank is cycled and I have been testing everyday no ammo nitrite in the past 5 days.

Me personally, I wouldn't even switch from IO. It's all I've ever used up until now and never had a single problem with anything. Now I'm using reef crystals due to a higher alk/cal/mag demand.

IO salt runs closer to 350 than 450. That said, it's just fine to use, just know that you will usually want to correct the Ca when you mix a batch.

Most any salt will get hard over time if left exposed to the air. Perfectly normal.

Update:
SG 1.025
pH 8.2
Ammo 0
Trites 0
Trates 0
Calc 420
Alk 9
Mag 1250
Temp ranging as of yesterday 77 night 82 during the day with the MH on.

Still have a pretty good bloom of diatoms but they are declining. Was thinking of trying to get my corals from my buddies tank but dont know if I should yet what do you guys think?
