Just picked up the stand from Norbay Ironcraft yesterday and I must say they did and excellent job. Constructed of 1-1/2" square steel tubing it should easily be able to support the 700+ lbs of water sand and rock. Tank will sit 36" off the floor and the lights can be lowered to the water surface or raised off the water surface as much as 22". At the moment I have a 6x36" ATI fixture but once I save a bit more would like to look into maybe getting 2 kessil pendants.

Next step cutting a couple pieces of ply to form the base where sump and skimmer will sit and a cushion for under the tank itself. Should have that wrapped up in another week or so then the real fun begins!

I presume this is the Illuminata that Jake has had for a while? Nice setup. I have the same light (6 bulb, right?). What bulb combo are you going to use?

Yup same setup 6 bulb fixture at the moment it has 2x 10k and 4x Blue Plus ATI bulbs. Don't know old the bulbs are but when I do replace them I would prob switch at least 1 of the blue plus for a purple plus or true actinic.

Grant actually turned me on to the idea of a steel stand, took one look at the stand for his frag setup an knew it was the way I wanted to go. So this is that stands big brother, was not easy getting it up a flight of stairs. When I got it inside it just barely rubbed the ceiling when I stood it up lol :)

Just got the two pieces of ply cut for the bottom shelf and under the tank, thanks a ton Grant you saved me a headache and loss off fingers. Just need to put all the plumbing back together and we should be good to go! :D

Finished my aquascape last night. Didn't drill any holes or use and plastic rods for support just used about 3 1/2 sticks of aquamend. Tried to keep things as open and have as little rock touching the sand as possible. I ended up making 3 columns basically. The one on the left I am most please with, the column in the middle not super duper happy with and may need to come out at some point. Each column is free standing and quite stable on its own so taking one out and switching things up in the future should be relatively simple. Rock has been cycling about 2 weeks now so tank should be ready for corals before the next meeting!!!!!! WOOT!!! :D

Sweet scape, esp the left and middle columns.
How about placing another rock on the top of the right column, then each column will be different heights.

Nice job.
