60 --> 225 Starfire (lots of pics)

I was wanting to go from 60 - 180 but I got a good deal on a 225...:bounce2:...It's a Lee-Mar eurobraced (recessed) starfire on 3 sides. Here is the old 60:

I wanted to go with a 42" stand this time, I had this metal stand made...it was powder primered and coated...VERY nice...this thing could hold the house up:

I plan on going mixed reef...my main goal is to keep everything minus the chiller and ballasts in the stand, quiet as possible, mostly birdsnests and milles, I know everyone is obsessed w acros, I think some are cool...I am also planning on a nice collection of acans, zoas, and rics...going w LEDs...let me know what you think! thanks! :wave:

Nice stand! Just be careful not to chip the powder coating anywhere, it will be the first place the rust gets in and starts popping the rest.

BTW, how are the light hangers attached to the stand?

No matter who you are, where you live or what you keep in your aquarium, a picture of the missus in your tank is always essential, keen to watch this build, good luck

yeah, def gotta be careful with the powder coating. We did a primer coat... And while still hot did the finish coat for a thicker top coating, so hopefully that'll help with the wear and tear.

The sleeves for the light bars are temporarily zip tied on until bruce wayne figures out exactly what lights hes going to go with. To be honest... The zip ties hold the sleeves to the stand pretty good and still allow for horizontal adjusting. Not a bad idea to just keep the zips on there for future adjustment needs.

wow, nice tank! Will the metal stand have a cabinet built around it, or will it stay open?

the stand will have removable panels around the front (3 panels) and (1 on each) sides... There is a 3 week lead time on them because they are being made with some new type of wood covering/sealing material. Ill have bruce wayne post some pix of the wood samples. Stay tuned.

-(2) Tunze 6205's

Just been buying chemicals and other stuff I will need, ordering lights and the sump...until that gets here I can't really do much, all of that and the wood panels are about 2 weeks out...

Does anyone think that there is a problem w me having the live rock in the DT before I plumb the sump? I have the temp good, flow, and occasional light...
