600 Display (1100+ total system) Mixed Reef

I have to agree that more access is better. For me, to do anything in my tank near the front panel I have to lay down on top of it.

I have 2 Tiger Shark magnets, one for the front panel and one for the fish room side. They are really good ones.

Build your own Ca reactor. If you can build that tank, a reactor is easy stuff. :D

As far as a Ca reactor goes, I would highly recommend a GEO reactor. I ahve one. They are extremely well built, priced well, and are extremely efficient.

Well thanks for that! I am trying to convince myself that builduing my own will make a better mouse-trap and there you go, screwing me up! :D :D :D Wait till you see the one I am making! It will be square, handle carbon, RowaPhos, Ca media, filter floss, etc. and will really tick off the round crowd.

I did check them out. They look very similar in flow design to the one I want to make but the one I need is $600 which I think is too much to spend particularly since I want to handle more than one media.

I definitely think they are well made and I also like the design of the Jetstream (which unfortunately does not always get good reviews). That may be more of a situation in which the user cannot get it tuned properly though.

If all else fails :hmm4: I would get one of those for sure.

Well, it has to make you wonder what type of equipment you are getting thast is either so complicated or finnikie that only very few people can get them to work as advertised. Either that or there are too many dumm reefers buying them.

I believe the term is "dumm reefers with too much cash" ...:D

I think the Jetstream is a well made product but I have read about more than one getting broken (even though eveyone who buys one says they are very well built) and it seems they are hard to tune. That's relative of course to the intellect of the reefer and the stability of the subject reef.

It is much like boating in that there are sailors and there are people who buy expensive equipment to make up for the fact that they are not really sailors. Often that results in an expensive disaster. I have a great story about that but I guess that would be off-topic eh?

And a sump I could not pass up! I will find some use for it.

And finally, me cleaning out the inside of the tank (Still have to get all the crown-molding and trim work done)

I was at PA today and saw that MOUNTAIN of equipment. You were on a shopping spree! The stacks of Tunzes on the counter were inpressive by themselves. Good luck with the tank... that's a TON of work.

I second that the guys and gals at PA are always cool, willing to help and the pricing typically is the best... especially if you're picking up vs. paying the shipping from somewhere else. I'm lucky and live about a mile away.

so there is the REAL reason you sold me your motorcycle, you weren't dumping the money into the fishtank but actually the little pony!! I could totally see you riding that thing instead of being at the motorcross track :)

what skimmer did you go with?

LOL!!!!

I still have yet to decide on the skimmer. I plumbed my sump so that I can go external or internal, now the debate begins!:D

Running my freshwater leak test. So far so good.

Wife also had to put up some bar stools to make it feel more complete
