600 gallon Acrylic and Glass Reef Construction.

Paul, that is just awesome. I am happy to see your design come to reality. I can't wait to see it progress through the stages.

I cant wait either, but it may have to while I get a ton of other things done and out of the way.

It may have water in it by the CRASE....we shall see.

Paul.

Don't worry, I'll send up Wes to fill it up. :D

ill provide the barrels for the ro if they will fit in your explorer

:)

seriously though, dont rush just cause people are antsy (which i know you wont), myself included, i know, bugged you enough, sorry) . looking forward to the slow and professional build up so we get that tank back where it is supposed to be, front page!

Heck, I totally disagree. Like I said, I'll send Wes up there. It's time to see another 14 day project on RC, don't you agree? ;)

Glad you're back. What an ordeal it must have been. Happened to me once so far and that was just a mildly stocked 90. I just can't imagine what it must have been like for you. Makes me wonder... how often does this happen out there? You had custom tanks but for most of us.. it does seem to happen often enough. I got an AGA/Aqueon b/c they're supposed to be better than Perfecto. Still leaked on me. AND I was just reading another thread where this guys tank started leaking too. Manufacturers, at least those 2, always seem to get away without even replacing it. It causes so much trouble when this happens... I'd gladly pay 2x more if they could make it almost impossible for it to happen. Really makes me mad... and frankly, seeing stuff like this happen to other people really has me worried about another disaster here.

Luckily, it seems we just happen to be around to catch it. Otherwise you could end up with a lot of dead stuff, a rotten smelling house, water damage to drywall, carpet, etc. Could be $1000's in damage. I had a little experience with water damage earlier this year.

Really glad you're finally back.

Hey Scifi- I was never really away.

Well since I am getting closer to having a box of water again I decided to treat myself to a nice coral I saw at Zoanuts. In fact, i couldnt pass this one up.

I cant wait to get this guy in my tank....whenever that happens...

WOW....I read completely through this thread. I know you had a heck of a time with your tank failure and was a heartbreak for you and your wife (and tank inhabitants).

What a totally awesome tank room, filtration system, skimmer upgrade, tank, etc you are setting up.

I really want to see your system when everything settles down. Threads like this makes me want to tear down a wall and put in a bigger system.

Congrats Paul.....looking forward to more pics after reading through this thread.

Actually, its an Australomussa rowleyensis. They are apparently very rare in the aquarium trade. A friend of mine sent pictures to Veron (who writes the coral identification books) and that was his identification.

Hey Paul you got that fancy camera and we still can't even get some pictures of the tank going up and the build???????? :)

Thats because I have been too busy to do a thing on my tank.

I had top get that article done for Reef keeping, and another done for next months issue...then the newsletter and stuff to do with CRASE...its ben a busy time.

I have just picked up the insulation for the loft. Thats my task this afternoon, get that laid and a wood floor down. Thats will help cool the garage so that I can begin putting walls up to get the fish room done.

As I get to the wall construction ill post pics.....promise.

I LOVE the new coral.....and the new tank! Seeing your build makes me sad now that I don't have a tank. However, graduation is coming soon enough and then I will have a house with a fish room too LOL :)

Update time....

The loft has 6 inches of insulation and I now have all the wood and the door to partition my garage off. Hopefully this weekend I will begin the wall construction.

Paul.

Well,

After getting the loft done it was time to begin partitioning the garage to amke the fish room.

After a day of pounding nails (well..ok..I used a nail gun)...I have the studs in place and the door frame ready to take the door. Sadly for me, rain stopped play and I had to refill the garage with all my junk.

heres a picture of progress so far:

next step- clad a wall and add the inner insulation then cover the other side. Once the door is in, it should hold temperature a great deal better.
