600 gallon Acrylic and Glass Reef Construction.

Nice. I'll add a clown tang one day. Probably early next year. That and the Regal Angel are my favourite fish.

That's awesome Paul. I'm glad it worked out. The Powder Brown is one of my favorites, but I've never bought one. I had a Powder Blue that did some damage in my reef years ago, and after it died, I simply never replaced it.

I love the dark color it exhibited. It looks extra stunning when it showcases itself like that.

Love the clown tang. Healthy looking one too, great colors.

I saw many of the on the GBR a few weeks ago and they are so fun to watch. They seemed to dominate the shallower reef though I have to admit I never saw more than one at a time, they seemed to like their space between others of their species.

With your technique I might even be willing to try one out against my killer purple tang who thinks he owns the tank. If I could rig up something like you have it might allow them enough time to strut and posture until they tire and get used to each other. I think I have some egg crate and scrap acylic out in the garage, maybe enough to build my own "tang pen". I just love a good idea when I "borrow it"! Thanks Paul.

Update:

24 hours into the test- the clown is swimming around eating from the rocks and the PBT couldnt care less.

Time to add the Maculiceps. I also intend to add a teeny blue spot Kole I have as well since the Mac and the Kole are already cohabitting.

Just added the Maculiceps to the tank. He spent a week in the Tang-tainer getting used to his new home.

The moment I added him the clown tang took offense- which resulted in a little chasing but no slashing- and then all was well.

The maculiceps is a little larger than the clown and looks absolutely stunning under the better lights of the main tank.

Ill snap a few pics later once i have time to give the glass a quick wipe.

good deal, so are old inhabitants reacting while the new ones are still in the tang-tainer or do they not really notice till you release it?

they notice them in there, but dont really fuss with it. When they meet face to face their is a little aggression, but nothing like trying to directly add them

Tang-tainer! Is that copy righted yet? lol BY the way the tank is looking great! Thanks again for letting my daughter chase your cat and run like a wild woman in your house!

Well...

not the maculiceps, but a wrasse I recently picked up. This is a McCoskers flasher wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri). Unfortunately he has his fins down and isnt displaying his true colors...which are blue and purple on the top fin. I actually have two of these which I am hoping may turn out to be a mated pair. They are currently in QT, but will be going into the big tank soon.

---btw, under and to the right of its tail there is another wrasse hiding. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what kind?
